Dermatophagia is a bitch.

Get some of that nail polish that prevents you from biting your nails and tastes really sour and put it on your skin instead of your nails. It won't stop you from biting necessarily but it will stop you from unconsciously biting.

Okay, but how do I trim and smooth out the skin irregularities near my fingers?

Also, where do I acquire the spare skin I need to eat?

I did, till I started using soaps without SLS compounds.

It's a shame that every sink in every public toilets, workplace toilets or other people's house still has soap with Sodium Laureth Sulphate in. Even the products that say "gentle on skin" tend to be full of the stuff.

I tried various moisturisers for years with not a lot of effect. Swapping my soap, shower gel and shampoo for ones without SLS in them really made such a difference, and so quickly.

Interesting how much people don't understand. So for u normies, non autistic people here: NO , the skin doesn't get like that by its own, it's not moisture, cream or anything, it's just we can't stop messing with our thingers and constantly damage the border of nails like that.

Hello Anxiety, my old friend...

[-] Peppycito@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago

Your hands are dry. Use moisturizer. Or lather your hands in Vaseline before bed and sleep with cotton gloves. You will have a new set of hands in the morning.

You need something with hydrocortisone to soothe. Not just a lotion

[-] BoxOfFeet@lemmy.world 5 points 4 weeks ago

No! Never! What the hell causes that? Is it a dry skin thing? Looks painful and disturbing.

[-] Lazylazycat@lemmy.world 6 points 4 weeks ago

Compulsive skin picking. I wish I could stop, but I can't.

[-] nekbardrun@lemmy.world 6 points 4 weeks ago

For me it is biting and chewing the skin around.

When it bleeds I also drink the blood.

Yes, I'm a vampiric who selfcanibalizes myself.

One day I will evolve to Ouroboros

[-] Tracaine@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

[-] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 4 points 1 month ago

Such is the nature of my work. Is that what caused this?

[-] TriflingToad@sh.itjust.works 4 points 1 month ago

no?? you just have massive bloody spots where skin is missing and didn't have a problem with it?

[-] finitebanjo@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

No.

Moisturize with lotion, especially if you wash them very frequently or have other underlying skin conditions such as pet allergies.

[-] Korrok@lemmy.blahaj.zone 4 points 4 weeks ago

Since I can remember. Why does this happen?
