How do I know it's not two halves of the same fig?
Yeah, it should be "fig 1", "also fig 1, but the other half".
fig 0.5 and fig 1.0

The shape and internal structure are different.
Do you have a justified true belief they aren't the same fig?
Does this mean that everything else labeled as fig has been a lie?
Not a lie per se, more of a fib.
