Who the fuck cares. He seems like a good dude and we all know she’s a complete piece of shit. Let’s not give her or her shitbag followers oxygen.

[-] sharkfucker420@lemmy.ml 67 points 2 months ago

He also spoke up about palestine so that could have something to do with it

[-] frosty99c@midwest.social 47 points 2 months ago

He's a relative of the Allende family. He spent his childhood as a refugee after the US installed Pinochet and his family had to flee Chile. Idk why his anti imperialism would shock anyone.

[-] Pavidus@lemmy.world 57 points 2 months ago

All my homies vote for Pedro.

[-] QueenHawlSera@sh.itjust.works 32 points 2 months ago

The fact that people take JK Rowling seriously saddens me.

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 3 points 2 months ago

no they defend her, because shes the terf-queen, transphobes stick together.

[-] FenderStratocaster@lemmy.world 21 points 2 months ago

Your post has me realizing how much I don't give a shit about.

[-] Perspectivist@feddit.uk 7 points 2 months ago

I genuinely struggle to come up with a topic for a news article more mind numbingly uninteresting than celebrity drama.

yeah he's a great fella as far as we know, his sister is trans and he's a very vocal critic of JKR and other terfs

[-] unknown1234_5@kbin.earth 15 points 2 months ago

can someone fill me in please, I missed the while situation save a couple memes.

[-] Mostly_Gristle@lemmy.world 50 points 2 months ago

Pedro Pascal's sister is a trans woman. He has been publicly very vocal on the subject of trans rights and inclusion. Consequently, a lot of transphobes, chuds, and miscellaneous fascists have been targeting him for a while and trying to smear his reputation any way they can. I don't really pay much attention to celebrity stuff so I don't know to what extent JK Rowling is personally involved in that, but given that she has been a very outspoken anti-trans bigot for some time, I would not be surprised to learn she was egging her followers on to that end.

[-] lectricleopard@lemmy.world 27 points 2 months ago

Heaven forbid someone even suggests JK isn't an advertiser freindly content creator over her hate speech. Expect the full Karen free speech rant.

Pascal supports his family member, and these troglodytes make it their mission to prevent him from making a living.

I have a rule of thumb in life. If it reminds me of Nazi rhetoric, I stay far away. It is rarely applicable but crucial when it is. I forget sometimes that there are people that not only dont think the same as me, they actually think the opposite.

Just looked his sister up and on the photos she looks happy. I'm happy for her.

[-] danc4498@lemmy.world 3 points 2 months ago

This like when they cancelled James Gun and got him fired from Marvel? I haven’t seen anything about Pedro Pascal.

[-] dexa_scantron@lemmy.world 10 points 2 months ago

They've been accusing him of being too grabby with his women co-stars (no evidence of this, and the co-stars in question say he isn't) and whining that he's just in too many movies/shows these days (no more than other prolific actors). Smells like astroturfing and surprise, it is.

[-] Tollana1234567@lemmy.today 1 points 2 months ago

wasnt that dwayne johnsons doing.

[-] andros_rex@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

TERFs will just make shit up. It’s absolutely unhinged. Rowling also has them denying that Nazis killed trans people - they’ve started to claim that the Nazis issued “transvestite passes” (which the Weimar Republic did - famously not the Nazi government) based on a book of photographs someone published of Nazi soldiers doing drag.

The Nazis tortured and murdered trans people. Some did drag because they thought it was funny, heck the US military did official drag shows during WW2. People do drag because it’s funny, that doesn’t mean they accept trans people. It’s unhinged how willing people are to lie and spread the lies of others in order to justify their hate.

[-] luminaree@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago

Yep doing drag shows because it's funny is the opposite of accepting trans people. It mocks them, and women too.

[-] Duke_Nukem_1990@feddit.org 2 points 2 months ago

Hey now, drag queens and kings aren't the enemy.

[-] andros_rex@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

It’s a performance art, and like any other form of performance it can be used to be shitty, but it’s not inherently mocking of women or trans people. Some of the stuff I’ve seen on RuPaul has made me cringe, but I’ve also seen queens that dress up like church marms and do a Betty Bowers/old school Colbert skewering of the Christian right.

[-] luminaree@lemmy.world 0 points 2 months ago

I agree, I wasn't referring to actual drag performances, but to men dressing up as women only because they think it's funny!

Dude is chill and she is not. That is enough for me.

[-] Kolanaki@pawb.social 0 points 2 months ago

It certainly puts it in new light the same way everyone randomly coming out to say they hate Coldplay after some CEO was outed as having an affair during one of their concerts.

[-] dumbass@leminal.space 16 points 2 months ago

Hey! I hated Coldplay way before that shit happened, plus them outing a shitty ceo actually made them slightly cooler.

[-] SpoonyBard@lemmy.world 6 points 2 months ago

Weird, I haven’t heard anyone say they hated Coldplay for this. In fact, I’d say that Coldplay is one of those bands that is regularly hated on, well before any of the cheating CEO and now, if anything, Coldplay is more liked, even if indirectly just because the situation was funny and meme’d so much.

[-] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Agreed. Didn't see that mentioned a single time

[-] meco03211@lemmy.world 4 points 2 months ago

Ardent Coldplay hater here. Has absolutely nothing to do with the CEO shit.

[-] Skua@kbin.earth 6 points 2 months ago

Ehhhh honestly saying that you hate Coldplay has been a thing for quite a while. They're a highly successful pop act that is well past the peak of their popularity, that's just gonna happen

X&Y is still a great album though

[-] ohulancutash@feddit.uk 3 points 2 months ago* (last edited 2 months ago)

As far as I can tell, Coldplay only have the one song, that they take apart and reassemble in different configurations. They are the musical equivalent of beige, and appeal solidly to the middle-classes. Hating Coldplay has been the thing to do for decades. It’s music for people who know nothing about music.

[-] Aqarius@lemmy.world 2 points 2 months ago

They have more than one song.

It's just that you can't tell them apart.

[-] Rhaedas@fedia.io 2 points 2 months ago

That's odd that you'd describe them as Nickelback or worse, modern country music, when part of why they've gained and lost fans over the years is because their albums tended to have different sounds to them.

[-] Taleya@aussie.zone 0 points 2 months ago

Pascal is loved and will not tolerate people talking shit about his trans sister.

Rowling at this point subsists on a half assed crumbling potter legacy she's using to fund transphobia. She went after tennant and since that backfired bigtime her calvary of fuckos are now trying Pascal. It will end just as badly and they will never learn

[-] Darleys_Brew@lemmy.ml 2 points 2 months ago

Thing is the Potter legacy wouldn’t be crumbling, at least not as much, if she hadn’t chosen to be a complete dickhead.
