More seriously though, this is my one problem with the fediverse concept. Users getting these weird barriers on what they can see based on the whims of instance mods.

there's probably no decentralized way to prevent it and even reddit had shit (against ToS allegedly) where you'd get banned in one sub for posting in another.

maybe it would be more sensible if comments federated regardless but comms (and maybe top-level posts? how often do hexbears post to lemmy.ml from hexbear?) were what you could opt-out of at the admin level.

i got banned from r/blacklivesmatter for commenting in r/conservative and my comment was criticizing a post in r/conservative making fun of r/blacklivesmatter for blocking people who comment there. lol

also, the hexbearians (hexbearers?) are really active and i usually get replies from them on my comments on .ml and it think it's because the liberals HATE what i have to say there.

we don't have downvotes (because of transphobia, long story) so we're very reply heavy culture, but i meant top-level posts.

I was trying to think of how you could run the site on demcent principles instead of basically liberal ones (which is the current framework, despite the creators' ideologies), but I don't think it can work without accounts being tied to identities because botting is such a severe vulnerability.

but I don't think it can work without accounts being tied to identities because botting is such a severe vulnerability.

We had a bunch of people on hexbear that wanted democratic decision making here in the early days and it took a real battle to see them off. It is just so so easy to be a wrecker through this kind of system.

There is not enough motivation for average users to pay attention to it.

I have to switch accounts to see most of the stuff on MtGzone.com. But then I do and I see the comments I'm not seeing through hexbeans, and it's still mostly nonsense about how "Wow this goes great into my commander name deck!" for every spoiler with zero card evaluation analysis.

Even the immortal science of Marxism-Leninism-Moo Dengism applies to children's games.
