As I've got older I've found myself much more firmly in the camp of "if reading spoilers can ruin something that thing probably isn't great in the first place". I remember seeing Breaking Bad spoilers posted by a troll on reddit before getting to the last few episodes and you know what? It was still perfectly good

It's not where you're going, it's how you get there.

I generally agree, but I can name a few exceptions:

Detective stories, like Knives Out

Project Hail Mary

Outer Wilds

There's an excitement that comes with not knowing the ending. I get to try to solve the mystery before it's revealed. But yeah, if they're good stories, I'l stilll enjoy them the second time I experience them.

Actually it’s about the ocean, the boat just hogs the shot.

Not Penny's boat though

People forget that classic plays literally tell you the end throught the Chorus. You're supposed to... actually watch and absorb the play, not just furtively hoard plot-points.

Spoiler: Achilles dies at the end. But will Patroclus confess his love for him before his untimely demise? Who knows!

Spock doesn't die in Strange New Worlds. How could he, he's alive in TOS. It makes no sense haha

I treat spoilers like visions. Assume you have superpower (in universe), you got a vision and know what's gonna happen, you can't change it, you can only watch as every little thing starts to lead into that outcome. Or you'll just watch with extra information than other people around you, you'll see some details that others would miss, because you know what that character is going to do, or something like that.

If I wait a little while I'll probably forget it anyway.
