I just thought this might make a fun discussion thread for folks to chat about ideas and make silly pie jokes.

I'm curious to hear what folks think would be fun, or work well!

Not too late for PieFed to rename "communities" to "slices"

[-] Cris_Color@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

This is a quite fun one

[-] int32@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 1 week ago

FOR THE LAST TIMES, LEMMY USERS ARE LEMMINGS. also, I got a good name for the american piefed users!

[-] iconic_admin@lemmy.world 6 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I thought Lemmy users were lemmings.

[-] Cris_Color@lemmy.world 3 points 1 week ago

I completely forgot "lemmings" 😅😅

I've probably actually seen that one more, I don't know how I forgot it lol

[-] med@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

Don't worry about him, he's just an anti-Lemmite

[-] Psythik@lemmy.world 4 points 1 week ago

We're Lemmings.

Cutie pies!! 🥹

The only downside is it might not be the most self explanatory

[-] pseudo@jlai.lu 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Pie lovers but we are lemmings.

[-] Dogiedog64@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Slices, because they're a part of the pie.

[-] unconsequential@slrpnk.net 2 points 1 week ago

Pie feds aka “the feds”

[-] Comrade_Squid@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago
[-] aaaa@piefed.world 2 points 1 week ago

I choose not to differentiate the two. I think we are all part of the same group

It's home instances that we are tribal about more than software interface.

[-] OpenStars@piefed.social 2 points 1 week ago

Threadiverse = the subset of the Fediverse based on threaded conversations, applies to Lemmy, PieFed, Mbin, also nodeBB and somewhat flarum

[-] yo_scottie_oh@lemmy.ml 1 points 1 week ago

Piefeddites

[-] OpenStars@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago

I have been using "Pie-heads", b/c we are just crazy enough to make that work! :-P

pieheads

And the network of Lemmy + PieFed + Mbin (+ nodeBB + flarum) as the "Threadiverse", distinct from the wider Fediverse that also includes Mastodon, PixelFed, etc.

[-] julian@activitypub.space 1 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

The fact that you name dropped NodeBB (a good example), Flarum (which has no working federation), but did not mention Discourse (which has only partially working federation and limited threadiverse support) gives me the warm and fuzzies 🤣

[-] BagOfHeavyStones@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago

We have become The Feds!

Pythonidae?

It doesn’t sound very nice, I prefer the others’ suggestions: cutie pie, magpie, slice, etc.

[-] hansemilla@discuss.tchncs.de 1 points 1 week ago
[-] blimthepixie@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago

Fatties?

After being fed so many pies

[-] INeedMana@piefed.zip 1 points 1 week ago

I was thinking about that too. And you know what? After taking part in Mastodon, then Lemmy, now PieFed and discovering PeerTube I now more identify as a Fediverse user than a user of one of the parts

Fediversling/Fediverser lacks an unofficial-official name too, btw ;)

[-] BagOfHeavyStones@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago

I'm thinking 'Fedder.'

One who Feds.

[-] Fizz@lemmy.nz 1 points 1 week ago

Piefeeders PieFeds(like federal agent) piffids piefedditors pies magpies

Its a hard one for names, maybe the name should come from the instance like blarj users.

[-] Cris_Color@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Magpies seems very cute, but like my other favorite so far, might not be super self explanatory

[-] scintilla@crust.piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago

I think refering to people on piefed as feds without context would be hilarious.

[-] rimu@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago

This seems like as good a time as any to plug !pies@piefed.social for everything pie-related.

Sorry, I thought the joke was implicit in your question, but the analog to "Lemmites" is "Piefites" which I think is just fine because say it out loud.

[-] Cris_Color@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

You know what, piefites is a good neutral option!

If there's a joke in saying it out loud or something my sleepy brain isn't finding it

[-] resipsaloquitur@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago
[-] badgermurphy@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

I'm sure some of them are pieholes.

[-] alsaaas@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 week ago

"the best" :3

[-] Cris_Color@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago
[-] cecilkorik@lemmy.ca 0 points 1 week ago

In my opinion: Lemmy is the name of the network, Piefed is simply the best way of accessing the network. Thus, most Piefed users are still Lemmings.

[-] OpenStars@piefed.social 1 points 1 week ago

Tbf ActivityPub is the name of the protocol, and Fediverse is the name of the network, though is too generic so many of us have taken to calling us the "Threadiverse", for threaded-based conversational format (Lemmy + Mbin + PieFed + nodeBB + flarum), as distinct from the user-centric Mastodon, the image-based Pixelfed, video-based Loops (not federated yet iirc), etc. Notably though, while it is not so easy, people can send messages between these e.g. from Mastodon to Lemmy (or PieFed) and vice versa.

[-] pineapplelover@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Lemmy users are lemmings

I think Piefed users can be called Piefeddites

[-] MystikIncarnate@lemmy.ca 1 points 1 week ago

What about piefediles?
