I believe that is a cuttlefish.

e: I no longer believe that is a cuttlefish, having been informed by @mienshao@lemmy.world that it is a Hawaiian bobtail squid.

No, you're a cutiel fish

[-] mienshao@lemmy.world 5 points 6 days ago

Incorrect—that is a Hawaiian Bobtail Squid. Cuttlefish have very distinct W-shaped pupils.

Annoys the hell out of me that this is the top comment. Lol

[-] Triumph@fedia.io 3 points 5 days ago

TIL! Thank you! It does look a lot like a young cuttlefish, though.

Who cares about pens and ink?

Damn things got an HD screen all over their bodies, they don't need ink to write whatever they want all over themselves...

Eerie.

This is a cuttlefish, not a squid.

Squids wish they could be cool as cuttlefish

[-] leftzero@lemmy.dbzer0.com 5 points 6 days ago

They aren't as cool, sure, but they're still covered in chromatophores (and cuttlefish also have ink, so the point still stands anyway).

I just couldn't find a gif of one using them, so I got one of a cuttlefish. 🤷‍♂️

Interesting. But did you know human beings have a sack and something called a pen-is. Perhaps given sufficient research it could be used for the same purpose. Food for thought.

Maybe to write secret letters like with lemon juice and a candle, but this time with an UV lamp instead.

Write with weapon.

[-] fahfahfahfah@lemmy.billiam.net 15 points 6 days ago

You know in middle school science they actually had us dissect a squid and attempt dip the pen into its ink and write with it. My group couldn’t seem to get it to work so one of the guys in the group just used to the pen to stab it in the eye and wrote with that instead.

[-] RubberElectrons@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

Wow, cool story bro.

[-] Serpent@feddit.uk 9 points 6 days ago

Isn't that a cuttlefish in the picture?

[-] mnemonicmonkeys@sh.itjust.works 2 points 6 days ago
[-] mienshao@lemmy.world 4 points 6 days ago

It is NOT. It is a hawaiian bobtail squid. Sheesh lol.

[-] shalafi@lemmy.world 8 points 6 days ago

Saw a video of an Asian guy in his canoe with the business end of a squid pointed at his face. He was lightly smacking it and, BOOM, ink bukake. Let's just say there might be a lot more ink in there than you might suspect.

Found it!

[-] Madison420@lemmy.world 1 points 6 days ago

Yo he leaned back into that. Is it still porn if it's non-explicit staged bukake?

[-] LadyButterfly@reddthat.com 3 points 6 days ago

This is perfection

[-] Dasus@lemmy.world 1 points 5 days ago

If you train them to write symbols you show them, wouldn't that make one a calamarigraphist
