If they wanted equal pay, they should get higher paying jobs like doctor or lawyer instead of lower paying jobs like woman doctor or woman lawyer.

[-] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 9 points 1 month ago

Reeeeeeeeally thought you were going to go in a serious direction as I started reading that.

Kinda like when Mallory Archer was talking about how she doesn't get what her son sees in Lana.

"I mean really, what does he see in a black.....ops field agent???"

Really felt like she was going in a whole different direction.

[-] Track_Shovel@slrpnk.net 3 points 1 month ago

I had to read it twice

[-] starik@lemmy.zip 2 points 1 month ago

You mean a quadroon ops field agent

[-] erusuoyera@sh.itjust.works 30 points 1 month ago

*reported crimes

Women are just better at it.

[-] GreenKnight23@lemmy.world 7 points 1 month ago

I love this because it has the potential to make an incel implode.

Y'know what, this stuff is sexist. It would be completely expected and socially supported for women to defend themselves against such odd claims, but when men do this, it's because they're "insecure", or "whiny". This is nothing but the projection of patriarchal approach to men as the ones shrugging it off meant to silence them against the clear gender war bullshit.

But then again, we're in the shitposting community.

[-] KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago

“Be a man and take it” is quite the take here. Haven’t we all acknowledged that toxic masculinity is a problem?

[-] ThirdConsul@lemmy.zip 9 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

But they do commit ~50% of spouse murders, so at least thet have that for them?

Oh, and the women are vastly underrepresented in the victim statistics.

Interestingly, some researchers when they control for provocation, do find that the difference is because of gender norms, and without them the violence rates equalize - see https://psycnet.apa.org/doiLanding?doi=10.1037%2F0033-2909.119.3.422

Another fun fact, when it comes to incarceration rates women do tend to get more lenient sentences because they are women (and act pitiful on the trail) - however it is slowly changing as more and more judges slowly learn to ignore that bullcrap.

Sources and initial readings can be found in this wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sex_differences_in_crime

It is fun :)

[-] Mouselemming@sh.itjust.works 5 points 1 month ago

I didn't read the linked article but from skimming the intro, it seems they found that unprovoked men are more likely to be violent but hell hath no fury like a provoked woman?

I initially connected your previous sentence, so I incorrectly thought it was the victim statistics that evened out, and the disparity was because the male victims were provoking, i.e. asking for it.

[-] ThirdConsul@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

male victims were provoking, i.e. asking for it.

What the heck is wrong with you?

Edit: oops, my bad, I forgot we're in the Shitpost community.

[-] suodrazah@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

This is shit post sir.

[-] Bubbaonthebeach@lemmy.ca 7 points 1 month ago

Well if we were really aiming for equality, we'd only need to do 50% of those.

[-] FilthyShrooms@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

Be the change you wan- wait no nevermind please don't

[-] DarkCloud@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

...if we just had more women doing revenge killings for the things men did to them, we'd be well on our way!

[-] WorldsDumbestMan@lemmy.today 4 points 1 month ago

Finally, a trully progressive mindset.

[-] robocall@lemmy.world 4 points 1 month ago

Get off your ass and work harder, women!

[-] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

i mean, i'm nonbinary. the assaults i've had from men are more severe, but they are from far fewer men. the assaults i've had from women are far, far less severe, but women in general seem comfortable assaulting people in broad daylight.

[-] Tattorack@lemmy.world 3 points 1 month ago

We don't know the actual statistics of what percentage of violent crimes and sexual assaults are committed by women. A lot of woman on man crime (domestic abuse, sexual assault) largely goes unreported when it happens, and hardly ever gets taken seriously when it does.

So long as that is still an issue, that there exists some idea that only men do these things, or mostly do these things, or even get falsely accused of doing these things while being a victim, the statistics cannot be trusted.

Feel free to downvote if it makes you feel righteous, or on "the winning side".

[-] osanna@lemmy.vg 2 points 1 month ago

Men can’t be raped or domestically abused apparently :/

[-] Shanmugha@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago

But we can trust something else: it is more scary for a woman to walk some poorly illuminated city street late at night than it is for a man. So nah, "these figures may not be true" does not negate "this trend does exist"

[-] Tattorack@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago

I question whether that fear is based on something real or just the idea that it would happen. That same idea that makes the law harsher against men committing crimes than women.

[-] KairuByte@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago

I mean, I don’t believe it’s typically the law that makes things harsher, it’s gender bias in juries.

[-] BigDiction@lemmy.world -1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

If men didn’t “mostly do these things” the meme you’re replying to wouldn’t exist.

Feel free to downvote me if you have enjoyed a sandwich from Arby’s in the last 30 days.

Violence comes from insecurity and social unease and suffering. The best way to make those things happen is shaming men instead of promoting men mental health and gender consciousness. Teaching them that patriarchy is not their fault and that the best way to fix their problems is breaking out of the system itself

[-] muusemuuse@sh.itjust.works -1 points 1 month ago

Are you suggesting women somehow have it easier than men?

[-] suodrazah@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago
[-] Lost_My_Mind@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

No. They're saying that 93% + 93% = 186%.

[-] Allero@lemmy.today 1 points 1 month ago

Ultraviolence

[-] UnderpantsWeevil@lemmy.world 5 points 1 month ago

No. Go big or go home.

[-] QuinnyCoded@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

well if 93% is currently 10,000 murders, then women doing 10,000 murders would hypothetically turn it to 50%

edit: well maybe like 57% because they already have the other 7%? but it would be lower because there is more total? I confused myself

[-] Allero@lemmy.today 1 points 1 month ago

Then the murder total is 10000/0,93=10753 with 753 being on women.

To equalize the statistics, women need to commit 10000-753=9247 murders.

[-] Professorozone@lemmy.world 2 points 1 month ago

If women are so great, how come they've never oppressed an entire gender?

[-] daggermoon@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I want to be oppressed by women. It turns me on.

[-] vaultdweller013@sh.itjust.works 0 points 1 month ago

Clearly you have not met the women of my clan, be they mothers, aunts, or wives they are forces of nature who will keep us menfolk under boot. Sisters, cousins, and daughters have no power and will be conscripted to help with the plan created with a collective total of 4 braincells.

[-] KulunkelBoom@lemmus.org 1 points 1 month ago

Aunties have the powers of life and death. This is true.

[-] chaotic_ugly@lemmy.zip 0 points 1 month ago

If women are so great, then how come God made them so good at cooking and cleaning and not business and stocks and racecar?

[-] daggermoon@lemmy.world 1 points 1 month ago

I can cook and clean and would be happy to do so for a woman that calls me her good boy.

[-] KulunkelBoom@lemmus.org 1 points 1 month ago

Step it up ladies. You're slacking.

[-] FosterMolasses@leminal.space 1 points 1 month ago

This is the greatest shitpost hahahahaha

[-] Bgugi@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago

Realistically I think they just need to put more work into getting men pregnant.

[-] ivanafterall@lemmy.world 0 points 1 month ago

I'm open to trying, I guess.

[-] Fiery@lemmy.dbzer0.com 1 points 1 month ago
