You'd think that the fact that they haven't "won" a war since they were fighting the same enemy as the Soviets would tell them their military isn't as invincible as they pretend it is.

I'm predicting Iran is going to sink a carrier with some hypersonics since the US killed 140+ Iranian sailors while they were waiting to head to a port. It wouldn't even be much of an escalation.
It's better to get them to run away. Sinking one if these things might have environmental impacts on the region

as much as i hate to underrate the ecological destruction of a destroyed carrier group, all that JP-5 and other materiel degrading and corroding in a marine environment... the Straight of Hormuz, just from from heavy maritime traffic alone hauling so much fossil carbon, has got to be fucking gnarly.
