They really shouldn't want disgruntled millennials. I would be a truly catastrophic draftee, and not because I'd be incompetent.

If they’re that hard up for soldiers I vote we send ICE over to do the fighting for us.

[-] takeda@lemmy.dbzer0.com 10 points 2 days ago

At the same time we should not give up diplomatic options. We should send Iran the entire cabinet as a gesture of good will.

I mean they have a larger budget than the Marine’s… What could go wrong?

Hear me out, we could just send them over and leave them there with no weapons and no ports... de-port them, if you will.

Remember, when in doubt pull pin and throw at nearest officers tent.

Could be hearsay, but I saw someone say even mentioning knowing what Fragging is during your interview is enough to get you disqualified.

After watching Russian soldiers getting blown to bits by drones for the last 3-4 years, I am good on ever joining the army.

They can recruit those gen-z maga true believers focused on looksmaxxing though. Army uniform looks cool. Makes you Chad.

took less than that. I understood its the idea of signing a piece of paper saying you will kill who you are told to kill going forward.

Can’t the US government and their enablers just calm down about waging wars? They’re quite literally one of the biggest issues of this world, and they think that they’re not the problem…

[-] N0t_5ure@lemmy.world 56 points 3 days ago

Raised from 35 to 42, which is a big jump. At 35, the physical downward spiral is just beginning. At 42, it is typically well underway, especially in the U.S., where obesity runs rampant. They must be anticipating a slog similar to that when Russia invaded Ukraine.

[-] Mirshe@lemmy.world 23 points 3 days ago

Not just in Iran, Lindsey Graham seems to think we're also gonna invade Cuba, probably parts of Latin America, and who knows, maybe Canada or Mexico to top it off. Multi-front wars aren't a bad idea right? We have the logistics to fight two separate long-term wars, so what's a third or a fifth?

No fucking way I'm ever taking orders from someone who doesn't think for them self.

[-] winkerjadams@lemmy.dbzer0.com 11 points 2 days ago

Never worked a job before? Sounds like every manager I've ever had

[-] HubertManne@piefed.social 4 points 2 days ago

there is a reason the large majority of a military is generally low 20's. Good luck with squads of thirty somethings.

[-] Chippys_mittens@lemmy.world 23 points 3 days ago

What's the max draft age tho?

[-] procrastitron@lemmy.world 25 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Below 45

I.E. eligible for the draft until your 45th birthday.

EDIT: The special skills draft for health care professionals is up to 54.

[-] mkwt@lemmy.world 16 points 3 days ago

Whatever it is now doesn't matter, because they will completely rewrite the laws if they ever actually do a draft

[-] jaykrown@lemmy.world 8 points 2 days ago

It doesn't matter, because we're never going. Even if they try to implement the draft, myself and millions of other will cause disorder.

I'll die over here first long before I go overseas.

[-] PowerCrazy@lemmy.ml 16 points 3 days ago
