Being destroyed by an 8-year-old is the standard chess experience tbh

I was beating people at chess when I was six

By eight, I was beating guys at 40K down at the hobby shoppe

I never killed a kid in the shower using math or whatever happened in those books

[-] Blep@hexbear.net 22 points 1 week ago

And that was before we get to the ethnically homogenous planet of genetically engineered tiny chinese people with OCD

[-] chgxvjh@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago

You are forgetting the religious cult.

Mormonism is a hell of a drug

[-] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago

We have to put an end to the White Pharoah

[-] FlakesBongler@hexbear.net 50 points 1 week ago

"Okay but who overthrew a colonial dictatorship?"

"I'm 8."

"Excuses excuses."

Great, now when I think of a Fidel Castro "chess master" will no longer be the first thing I think of.

:fidel-checkmated: has excellent emoji potential

[-] Nopeace@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago

Agreed. Someone who knows how this shit works, please!

Here it is with just Fidel for more general use. Wasn't sure how to include the chess/kid without it being illegible/too small or splitting it in half. Seeing if I can make a version that includes them as well.

Edit: Added second version.

chess is counterrevolutionary. you want me to sacrifice my pawns (peasants) for the queen (despicable liege lord)? a true friend of the people is checked in 3 moves through the emancipation of the serfs and application of laicism. the heap of chess masters from the USSR embody the revisionism of the post-stalin era in the Soviet Union

[-] glimmer_twin@hexbear.net 26 points 1 week ago

Pawns getting to the other side of the board and becoming the most powerful piece represents the seizure of power by the proletariat very-smart

[-] CrookedSerpent@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago

This is exactly why I don't show up to our local chess club

[-] TreadOnMe@hexbear.net 18 points 1 week ago

Can you even imagine a single U.S. politician, let alone a President, just sitting around and playing chess with children?

[-] glimmer_twin@hexbear.net 17 points 1 week ago

I wouldn’t want any of the Epstein class within 100 chessboards of a kid tbh

Miles Davis probably the only person across human history who emanates cool as much as Fidel

[-] TheoryofChange@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago

He looks devastated.

[-] EstraDoll@hexbear.net 12 points 1 week ago

i too probably would lose at a chess game to an 8 year old if i was dead for 10 years already

The merit of youth is being able to adapt to new environments much quicker. The demerit is they're more chaotic so the wins aren't as consistent.

Once you develop certain habits over a long period of time, you become predictable. However you have a higher consistency of wins playing against opponents from the similar time period as your own. Because they're probably used to the same habits as you are.

I could go on, but I think too much already. This is why they added a time limit to chess games.
