Jodie Foster is still not impressed.

if you're going to do a bad job with a relative vulnerability, just don't instead. let somebody with an actual plan take the opportunity next time instead of making them tighten security.

[-] Diurnambu1e@hexbear.net 1 points 1 month ago

Second time though false flag or they may have created an opportunity. I wonder how much it cost to send someone go work in the area and befriend him to influence him.

I'm so worried that Tump might be alright.

[-] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 8 points 1 month ago

The only, well at least biggest, think keeping me going day to day is seeing that glorious headline. Then I got to plan a tour of public restroom usage.

[-] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 10 points 1 month ago

His grave is gonna need a floor drain cause I'm peeing there.

Now when I say pee, what I mean is I expel the waste from my body onto his rotting carcass. There's a lot of thought goes into it. It's very personal.

You... I like you.

You could make a killing setting up a stand nearby to sell asparagus to visitors to the Trump National Memorial Catacombs/Gender Neutral Restroom Complex

[-] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 3 points 1 month ago

Dunno if you know how truly brilliant this is, because you can harvest asparagus twice a day it grows so fast. Maybe I'll just plant some near them as a public service.

[-] 30_to_50_Feral_PAWGs@hexbear.net 4 points 1 month ago

Unfortunately, it can take around three to five years to really establish a harvestable crop, though. At least it could work as a long-term plan.

[-] YiddishMcSquidish@lemmy.today 3 points 1 month ago

Good thing the yards they are entombed in don't usually have constant security.

[-] The_Filthy_Commie@lemmygrad.ml 31 points 1 month ago

I am here once again, asking for people to aim better.

[-] SeeMarkFly@lemmy.ml 29 points 1 month ago

The entire White House Press was there so we'll never know.

[-] SerLava@hexbear.net 28 points 1 month ago

I haven't seen confirmation that the suspect was armed or that he shot anyone. Trump posted a video of the suspect and it appears that um... it appears that security opened fire when.... when the suspect Naruto-ran through a checkpoint.

[-] dead@hexbear.net 10 points 1 month ago* (last edited 1 month ago)

The authorities said the man, who did not make it into the large ballroom where Mr. Trump, top administration officials and hundreds of journalists had gathered for dinner, was carrying a shotgun, handgun and knives. The head of Washington’s police force said that investigators believed he fired at least once, and that officials were reviewing ballistics evidence and shell casings.

The NYTimes article in the OP says that they found 2 guns and a knife on the suspect.

Also the photos that Trump posted show that the suspect was stripped completely naked with his lower half being covered by a aluminum thermal blanket. This would indicate that the suspect was strip-searched.

the evening will be much different than planned, and we'll just, plain, have to do it again.

Shooter probably saying the same thing right now.

[-] thefunkycomitatus@hexbear.net 26 points 1 month ago

[-] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 26 points 1 month ago

[-] scala@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 month ago

[-] GoodGuyWithACat@hexbear.net 25 points 1 month ago

California is not sending their best.

[-] stink@lemmygrad.ml 18 points 1 month ago

I blame Reagan for imposing such strict gun laws on california, not enough practice smh

[-] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 6 points 1 month ago

I mean it was a shotgun. Just aim in general direction once in range.

Damn. What could have been.

Allen donated $25 to the political action committee ActBlue in October 2024, a month before Donald Trump’s defeat of Kamala Harris, reports The Los Angeles Times.

If $25 donated to Kamala Harris doesn’t work, there’s only one logical next step

[-] dead@hexbear.net 16 points 1 month ago

NYTimes confirmed that the name of the suspected shooter is Cole Tomas Allen, aged 31

[-] Sanctus@anarchist.nexus 15 points 1 month ago

All the bots wishing him well and saying the ballroom needs to be built lmao

[-] dead@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago

There was some information mixup. CNN was saying that the event is going to continue. Trump just posted now that the dinner will be rescheduled within 30 days. Added a second Trump tweet to the post.

[-] Spacehooks@reddthat.com 12 points 1 month ago

You'd think Trump at his age and bodily condition would get heart attack from almost being killed.

[-] red_giant@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago

Bold of you to assume he can process information at real time

[-] Dessa@hexbear.net 14 points 1 month ago

Bold of you to assume he has a heart

Newcomm and Newsmega Rules:

The Hexbear Code of Conduct and Terms of Service apply here.

  1. Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

  2. Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

  3. Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

  4. Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

  5. Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

  6. Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

  7. American politics: Discussion and effort posts on the (potential) material impacts of American electoral politics is welcome, but the never-ending circus of American Politics© Brought to You by Mountain Dew™ is not welcome. This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

  8. Electoralism: Please try to avoid struggle sessions about the value of voting/taking part in the electoral system in the West. c/electoralism is right over there.

  9. AI Slop: Don't post AI generated content. Posts about AI race/chip wars/data centers are fine.
