People don't open their doors to salesmen anymore
I know I don't
I did twice and now when i see brightspeed in my neighborhood it's a struggle to suppress the urge to go buy a gun specifically to shoot them
no, I don't fucking want brightspeed! but then they just keep on talking at you like they're going to stumble on the sequence of words that jedi mind tricks you into acquiescence
That's not true! Some people answer with a loaded shotgun.
Reminds me of the too-good-to-be-true job I applied for years ago. I was young and dumb(er) and desperate for a job. I came across a place that was hiring for a position selling water filters or some shit. They advertised a very good wage & during the interview revealed the commission bait & switch (red flag #1). The dude who interviewed me had the stereotypical sleazy sales guy vibe (red flag #2) and he spent a decent chunk of the "training" bragging about how much fun he had partying when he was in our shoes. Then when he wasn't doing that he was basically telling us we'd be preying on the elderly since they're lonely and easier to hoodwink (red flag #3).
I left for lunch and never went back. The job I eventually did get fucking sucked (long hours, overnight, mind-numbingly boring) but at least I wasn't selling my soul while scamming lonely people
i hate those scam group interviews that are essentially sales pitches for pyramid schemes. there is so much shady shit that needs to be made illegal
They're just preying on the vulnerable from both sides, you have to be either desperate or a complete ghoul to accept that kind of "work". If I wasn't in dire need of money at the time I could have been a lot more selective about the jobs I pursued
I hate how they do this, they'll be paying below minimum wage but if you get "enough" sales you could theoretically hit that $150,000 target, it would just require you to make a new sale every 5 minutes, and work for 16 hours a day 7 days a week.
I hate how working on commission is always so shady and how it just results in people doing this sort of work being desperate, aggressive and unpleasant, and that makes the public treat them like shit. It also erodes public trust in strangers visiting their house. It's hard to organise anything in my local neighbourhood because people just assume you're trying to sell them something and view anyone coming to their door with suspicion.

This part is the worst
"In this economy, I should feel lucky just to have a job!"
I'm applying to work retail cashier again, thought it would be cool to escape that world but fuck it going back to work for CVS is better than this corpo office shit that doesn't really even pay more.
Ugh lovely to see the exact same job scams popping up that did for me after I was a fresh college graduate.
They'll never make this shit illegal in the USA, will they?
If you're new to the job market please avoid the sales job category entirely, I definitely got tricked by that section the most in my 20's.
