Israel going too mask off threatens to unite the Arab world and kick off a much bigger conflict that would threaten US interests. The cooler heads at the pentagon sent out a memo to all their media assets telling them to crank the "nuance meter" slightly more towards the Palestine side to send a message to Bibi to fucking cool it or he's gonna be looking as less concrete western support.

I know y'all don't want to hear this-

But maybe the protests are working?

There are several governments talking about banning pro-Palestinian protests, so I’d say they are definitely working as a warning of what’s to come if there isn’t some kind of shift in policy. I don’t buy for a second the idea that now is the moment that everyone started actively caring about protecting Jews.

There’s also this looming issue of what happens with those Gazans that are fleeing into Egypt. Egypt neither has the resources nor political stability to absorb that influx of refugees, and I’m absolutely certain Israel is going to deny a huge chunk of them, if not all of them, re-entry to Gaza when/if the dust settles. Disgruntled refugees plus renewed vigor of the anti-Israel Muslim fundamentalist bloc has the potential to upend things in Egypt, so there’s a big motivation to keep the number of refugees to a minimum.

Israel has never allowed displaced Palestinians to return, they're not likely to start now.

Tin foil hat time: When I order a sandwich at the sandwich shop, they make the sandwich and then sent it to me

[-] Great_Leader_Is_Dead@hexbear.net 20 points 2 years ago

Then why do they keep forgetting to put hot relish on my sandwich?

Tin foil hat time: when I wrap my leftovers in tin foil, it protects them from the elements, not unlike a hat would do for my delicate little noggin.

This has been the case from the get-go. Deep state is simply not as invested in Israel as it is in Ukraine.

There have also been enough U.S. deaths already that they could have tried to justify full U.S. involvement. That they can't or won't do anything more than occasionally hitting Syria with an airstrike is a good sign, but I do wonder what happens when there is some obvious damage and death that they can't cover up with "died in a training exercise" or "had cardiac arrest."

USS Gerald R. Ford at the bottom of the Mediterranean

This doesn't make any sense. There have been more than enough attacks on us installations in Syria and Iraq that casus bell for war against Iran or whoever could be manufactured. The US just wants a genocide to happen but they don't want to go to war over it

Part of the reason for calling it a "tin foil hat take" is that I don't suspect it's actually true, just in the realm of vague possibility
