Nothing says "we're doing just fine recruiting" like going to an anime convention to find new recruits.

It's your time.

[-] sisatici@hexbear.net 24 points 11 months ago

What do you mean? Where would you find fit bodied and mentally stable man who love to take orders instead of anime convention?

[-] OprahsedCreature@lemmy.ml 8 points 11 months ago

Can't they try the femdom convention instead? Those guys are way more pleasant.

[-] 7bicycles@hexbear.net 14 points 11 months ago

milfs, hanging out with your dad, cool robots, flirting with a german redhead, what do you people want

[-] LGOrcStreetSamurai@hexbear.net 42 points 11 months ago

I really think it's just solider finessing their way to go an anime expo on Uncle Sam's dime.

[-] Mokey@hexbear.net 16 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

Its that (most recruiters are mid-20s and thus were exposed to and like anime) and the demographic they want to hit is the same as anime cons 18-26 year old male or females.

[-] LGOrcStreetSamurai@hexbear.net 7 points 11 months ago

That’s probably the case when ya think about.

[-] Mokey@hexbear.net 7 points 11 months ago

Its certainly that

[-] JohannaChittarra@hexbear.net 37 points 11 months ago

You gotta keep all the transfems whose eggs cracked while enlisted interested.

[-] Jobasha@hexbear.net 33 points 11 months ago

Airstrike the fucking wedding Shinji

[-] Mordachai_Shedbacon@lemm.ee 33 points 11 months ago

[-] 7bicycles@hexbear.net 7 points 11 months ago

Metal....GEAR!?

[-] Judge_Juche@hexbear.net 33 points 11 months ago

Instead of telling the teen weebs they can get a Mustang if they enlist, they are going to give them a "grown-up kiss" and promise to do the rest after (their deployment).

[-] barrbaric@hexbear.net 26 points 11 months ago

I'll serve LCL before I serve this country.

Hideaki Anno is spinning in his grave rn, and he's not even dead

[-] 7bicycles@hexbear.net 9 points 11 months ago

is anno out of the picture when it comes to selling out the NGE IP? Because I'm pretty sure that one is known for appearing on everything. There was a NGE toothbrush. Either my man is rotating at googolplex numbers at all times or he's fucking hustlin', the US military has deep pockets

[-] Venus@hexbear.net 16 points 11 months ago

MISATO WOULD NEVER- ah, who am I kidding, she absolutely would

[-] puff@hexbear.net 12 points 11 months ago

In Evangelion, the entire fate of the world depends on the ulterior motives of two paramilitary organisations acting independently of the UN and endangering the lives of civilians in the world's last remaining cities so that their superweapon can trigger a doomsday scenario. If there's one thing I took away from Evangelion it was not pro-military.

[-] UlyssesT@hexbear.net 7 points 11 months ago* (last edited 11 months ago)

The Japanese military put on a big show recently where its orchestra played Evangelion music in a grand blue curtained patriotic display. shinji-screm

[-] 7bicycles@hexbear.net 9 points 11 months ago

call me western centric but the "fortunate son" / "born in the USA" effect transcends borders because it is tied deeply to nationalism

[-] Awoo@hexbear.net 8 points 11 months ago

The only place they're less likely to get recruits is a furry convention.

[-] HexbearGPT@hexbear.net 4 points 11 months ago

What’s the deal with those 360° photo platform things? Like what does the output look like? Is it cool or just a stupid gimmick?
