There must have been a lot of high-level defections so far to have to resort to this

There were:

Ah Russia you comical evil country, you never fail to impress with some new stupidity

[-] Rinox@feddit.it 14 points 11 months ago

I mean, this is the same country who walled off an entire city to stop people from leaving. This is not really surprising

[-] avater@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

oh its not surprising for me, it's just a constant reminder how fucked up Russia is

[-] elbarto777@lemmy.world 3 points 11 months ago

Would you say russia is getting to the same level as north korea?

[-] avater@lemmy.world 1 points 11 months ago

it clearly has set it's sail in this direction, maybe flavoured with a little shot of nazi germany

[-] Algaroth@lemmy.world 1 points 10 months ago

Or at least some classic Stalinism. The good ol with us or against us rhetoric is the foundation of authoritarianism.

Aka "21st century russky mir'.

Hunh. The Russian government started a thing a few months back, where they no longer had to deliver your drafted-into-the-army papers in person, they could do it by email. The interesting thing was that the email was considered to be delivered the moment it was sent, regardless of whether anyone actually read it or not - or whether the recipient even knew the email account existed. It'll be interesting to see if the passport restriction is handled the same way.

Lol. I wonder how many of those emails went straight into the spam folder.

So they have 5 days to find a way out. That’s all I’m reading from this

[-] Sanyanov@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

They're already trapped inside the country.

You're banned from travel. Here's your uniform and gun, now travel to Ukraine and have drones drop bombs on you.

5 days to use it or lose it.
I wonder how many will see this as the final push to flee the county now that they've been put into a "now or never" situation.

[-] Sanyanov@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago

That relates to those who've already been banned from travel. They won't be let out

[-] _edge@discuss.tchncs.de 8 points 11 months ago
