Moore's law isn't dead, it just applies to treat shrinkflation now.

I always get the store brand oreos, tastes just as good and they're much larger. Now they also have far more filling apparently as well.

Also, like 65% chance those cookies are made by Nabisco, the parent company of Oreo.

Maybe in the US, but I'm not sure how it works internationally. Probably still though. Weird that they don't shrink all of them at the same time (though a lot of store brand everything has been getting discontinued lately, so that's probably their plan)

Yes. I got a pack of double stuf ones and they looked just like a normal Oreo so I got some normal ones and they're less than half as thick as they were the last time I bought Oreos maybe 2-3 years ago.

This is not my photo though

I have definitely seen those in the UK advertised as "Oreo Thins".

[-] JohnBrownNote@hexbear.net 2 points 2 years ago

the mint oreo thins are a passable replacement for the girlscout thin mints that changed the recipe a decade ago to be healthier or some shit and don't taste as good anymore.

I hate it when I want to bite into an oreo and the oreo cum quantum tunnels all over my face

... I should try to bake my own diy oreos

[-] infuziSporg@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago

This is not all that easy. You'd need to get the dough, the thickness, the temperature, and the baking time just right, and then it would take about an hour per bag.

Most foods that involve a lot of sophistication are really good, but Oreos really aren't. Overrated cookie losing value.

Hell yeah.

Oreos are distinguished mostly by their texture (remember, Americans eat aesthetics instead of substance) and little else.

They're another food where you don't really crave or desire it, you just say "yeah I could smash a bag of those".

weird looking hydrox

[-] SoloboiNanook@hexbear.net 8 points 2 years ago

As an oreo enjoyer, those are def thins.

[-] EmmaGoldman@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

I maybe fucked up with the picture I just got it from Google images but I swear that regular and double stuf Oreos are way way thinner than I remember them being, and many people on the internet also have noticed based on googling it

I thought that was a copper penny, wowie

Is this real, cause I love oreo biscuits but hate the filling

just love mixing the biscuits into some milk and drinking it

been looking for something that only sells the biscuits but nobody does

[-] EmmaGoldman@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

Yeah they have been getting progressively thinner and thinner, apparently they now even make a thing called an "Oreo thin" which is even more thinner. Wild.

[-] sooper_dooper_roofer@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago

yea but the Oreo thins cost the same or even more as normal oreos
I just want the biscuits and to not be charged, or at least charged a little less, for the nonexistent creme filling

[-] 420blazeit69@hexbear.net 3 points 2 years ago

Just get someone to lick them biscuits clean for you

[-] infuziSporg@hexbear.net 5 points 2 years ago

Thesis: Shrinkflation

Antithesis: Supersizing

Synthesis: You need to buy more Oreos to dip into your Big Gulp

[-] Sopje@hexbear.net 5 points 2 years ago

The Lidl off brand oreos taste imo as good and are way cheaper

porky-scared-flipped: "I can't believe workers are QUIET QUITTING! Company loyalty is DEAD!"

Does porky not realize that a lot of the time, we learn those behaviors from him? After all, if I do work and not get compensated when I could be shitposting or doing anything else. That's just leaving money on the table. It's just business, nothing personal, porko.

[-] crusa187@lemmy.ml 4 points 2 years ago

Come on, you ate the cream and then clamped them together for this pic. No way Nabisco would just sell fake Oreos with no filling like this!

[-] EmmaGoldman@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

Apparently this photo is actually of something I've never seen called an "Oreo thin" which has also been getting thinner due to shrinkflation. I didn't take the photo but I swear to you they're much thinner than I remember them being
