I wonder how many people stop scrolling and went...

"Shit."

As a Brit, me.

I rather just give my mom what she enjoys most and just a simple thank you. No need to get into the capatilistic mindset of needing to buy something.

Nah just refusing to participate in a capatilistic bullshit day and instead treat my mom well as much as I can regardless of the days.

Chocolate covered strawberries are easy, fast, and never fail to delight. Get some melting chocolate from the baking aisle, melt it slowly so you don't burn it. Like 60% microwave power in 30 second increments. Dip berries and let them set for about 10 minutes on parchment paper. Don't refrigerate.

I'm appalled at the thought of microwaving chocolate, but I will admit I never tried.

I put it in a bowl that fits neatly over a pan of water that's on low heat. Chocolate doesn't need to be heated much to melt.

I used the microwave this morning and it worked great. I promised fast and easy, but feel free to work slower and steadier. It's easy to burn in the microwave, for sure. Don't heat it until it's melted, heat it until it's melty and then stir until smooth.

Microwaving chocolate gives you the same result for much less effort. You just need to do it in short increments. No more then 30 seconds to start and down to 10 seconds once it's nearly done.

Sincerely, a Belgian.

It's 11:30 on Mothers Day, you're way too late to secure flowers.

[-] zcd@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 year ago

May depend on your time zone, you could be screwed already

Wasn't mothers day like a month ago?

[-] inb4_FoundTheVegan@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

Literally today, but I bet your mom appreciated the unexpected chocolate last month.

[-] stoy@lemmy.zip 1 points 1 year ago

Mother's day is in exactly two weeks time, you have time.

[-] Zagorath@aussie.zone 4 points 1 year ago

Mother's Day varies a lot around the world, but today (or yesterday, in my time zone) is by far the most popular day, with a total of 92 countries, according to Wikipedia.

Exactly 2 weeks time is probably the fourth most popular date. (Second and third are 8 March and 21 March, tied with 19 countries.)

[-] wahming 2 points 1 year ago

If you live in a country where Mother's Day was today, it's not too late to move

[-] Aussiemandeus@aussie.zone 0 points 1 year ago

It was yesterday
