I'm not a veterinarian, but assuming the story is real, it sounds like the deer has spongiform encephalopathy, or one of those conditions that make you do really stupid, counter-intuitive shit.

[-] Diuretic_Materialism@hexbear.net 15 points 4 months ago

Oh shit I just learned I've had spongiform encephalopathy for YEAR!

spongiform encephalopathy, or one of those conditions that make you do really stupid, counter-intuitive shit.

Alternatively it could be just socialdemocracy

[-] TheBroodian@hexbear.net 28 points 4 months ago

Pretty sure these are symptoms of a prion infection

[-] AdlachGyfiawn@lemmygrad.ml 3 points 4 months ago

Yeah. Chronic wasting disease is huge among deer. I sometimes forget not everyone is on the lookout for it.

no more half measures walter

This is probably where stories of skinwalkers come from because if I saw this shit in an age before germ theory I would throw myself down on the ground and weep for god

[-] radiofreeval@hexbear.net 12 points 4 months ago

We lost a real one

[-] allthetimesivedied@hexbear.net 3 points 4 months ago

This is what happens when you evolve to eat nothing but fucking leaves and grass.

[-] PolandIsAStateOfMind@lemmygrad.ml 2 points 4 months ago

So, humans are basically deers minus brain

[-] BigHaas@hexbear.net 26 points 4 months ago

Deer are disgusting spider zombies that owe me thousands of dollars for property damage and I yearn for wolves

[-] Parsani@hexbear.net 14 points 4 months ago

Based deers doing property damage

[-] nelsnelson@hexbear.net 5 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Are deers our derpy animal comrades? I thought it was cats. Is this why pigs like to snipe deer on the weekends?

[-] Parsani@hexbear.net 5 points 4 months ago

Unfortunately cats are bourgeois. Deer are comrades.

They're graceful when running but when they try to amble its like watching two guys on stilts trying to ride the same unicycle

[-] Infamousblt@hexbear.net 17 points 4 months ago

I grew up in the Midwest and can absolutely confirm. Total derps

Some might say "deeply unserious"

[-] TheBroodian@hexbear.net 12 points 4 months ago

They are profoundly stupid animals. Very beautiful, but nothing going on upstairs at all.

[-] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 9 points 4 months ago

Have hung around deers. Can confirm. They're very silly

[-] QueerCommie@hexbear.net 8 points 4 months ago

I’ve seen them up close and find them beautiful, but they are a little silly and it would be real nice to get some mountain lions.

[-] Diuretic_Materialism@hexbear.net 6 points 4 months ago

Well, I often perceive derpy gangly humans as "graceful" so maybe it's not propaganda.

[-] came_apart_at_Kmart@hexbear.net 6 points 4 months ago

they're like greyhounds or other fast running animals. they look incredible during fast locomotion, pure grace and their form suggests their function, so they look majestic when standing alert, ready to run.... but when they are just puttering around, taking a dump, or trying to get at something... they are a complete absurdity.

[-] Asafum@feddit.nl 2 points 4 months ago

They're so damn dumb too. I walk outside and they get scared, run into the fence, sometimes multiple times, turn around and run right into oncoming traffic...

It actually makes me feel pretty terrible, in some way I not only get the idiots killed I also ruin someone's day as their car is now fucked up... Stupid deer.

[-] Red_Sunshine_Over_Florida@hexbear.net 5 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Rather than silly, they are actually dangerous vectors for disease.
