Can't get my truck insured because it's a POS.

Still love the truck thoughvery-normal

[-] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 29 points 4 months ago

Even when my car was running and it had bad rust damage and the tires were shot I was insured. Imagine a 100k car not being insurable, lol. lmao

[-] Chronographs@lemmy.zip 22 points 4 months ago

I’m guessing it’s because if your rust bucket has a claim they only have to pay out a tiny bit of money, while these pieces of shit are unreliable and expensive to repair.

[-] LaBellaLotta@hexbear.net 48 points 4 months ago

Damn guess Geico is fucking woke now

[-] GaveUp@hexbear.net 34 points 4 months ago

It must be because of their DEI policies

[-] Awoo@hexbear.net 33 points 4 months ago

I swear to fuck DEI is just the new "WAAAAH Critical Race Theory!" it even has the same cadence to say it.

[-] Cummunism@hexbear.net 31 points 4 months ago

30 years ago it was conservatives whining about "political correctness." Except back then at least they could pretend it was about something else. To be literally against diversity, equality and inclusion? Mask off.

[-] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 17 points 4 months ago

They have been against “social Justice” for over a decade at this point, the mask was never on

[-] GaveUp@hexbear.net 21 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

DEI is the critical race theory for corporate PMC chuds who only vote Democrat because they think voting Republican is for the poors and uneducated

[-] zed_proclaimer@hexbear.net 13 points 4 months ago

The new “politically correct” and “SJW”

They keep making up new phrases to get mad about the same thing, people more progressive than them

[-] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 42 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

I've been telling people about cybertruck owners posting about getting their insurance canceled or not renewed since friends of mine in Tampa keep seeing them. Basically, "if you see one on the road stay away because it's likely not insured".

---

After this winter I suspect you won't be able to insure it in the midwest and northeast.

There’s one I’ve seen a couple times in Northern Virginia, it has water spots and is already yellowing ¯\(ツ)

From what I understand the body panels are all different so they all weather at different rates. Great news to find out after learning you can't wash the thing or it will void the warranty.

Was with Geico for 20 years. 0 claims. My R8 was $1300/6 months with them. Back in February they quoted cybertruck at $3k/6 months. Finally went with progressive for $1441.

What I want to know is why you would ever sell your R8 for a cyber truck?

I hate that it bothers me, but I just can’t put myself in the mindset of these people.

[-] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 33 points 4 months ago

R8

I risk a struggle session here to speak so favorably about a car that probably costs ~$160,000 but I just googled that and I have to say it's a sexy beast.

[-] MayoPete@hexbear.net 26 points 4 months ago

That IS a sexy beast, and as a Socialist I want China to sell me one that is electric and costs ~20k or less. (Horse)Power to the people ✊

[-] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 16 points 4 months ago

electric and costs ~20k or less. (Horse)Power to the people ✊

The dream.

[-] Flyberius@hexbear.net 8 points 4 months ago

I saw Lamborghini in Dali, Yunnan, China and it was being driven like all Lamborghinis are driven (loudly and obnoxiously). This upset me.

Sorry, your comment dredged up that memory

The lines on it looks wrong to me, I think the c8 looks better

[-] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 4 points 4 months ago

What's the difference between the 1LT and E-Ray other than the E-Ray costs $40k more.

"Tesla insurance" sounds like The Onion.

Tesla insurance is the mvp if you live in CA. Cheaper than mercury for me (and Mercury is almost always the cheapest for me)

[-] FloridaBoi@hexbear.net 20 points 4 months ago

That’s really impressive. That company is just trying to fully vertically integrate

[-] chickentendrils@hexbear.net 13 points 4 months ago

they could be involved in shorting TSLA and keeping these things on the road to try to maximize the body count

[-] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 33 points 4 months ago

They hate the truck because it's based and redpilled and geico is woke and blue pilled.

[-] Hello_Kitty_enjoyer@hexbear.net 15 points 4 months ago

the truck owners are asleep bc it has autopilot. normie wagecuck drivers have to be literally woke to even go anywhere. choke on that commie

[-] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 33 points 4 months ago

I just got a quote from Geico for a Cybertruck to add to my policy. It was about the same as to add a model s and less than a. Model x by 100 per 6 months

You can get the quote without an issue, but when it comes time finalize it, reportedly it won’t be possible. Let me know though if it works out.

[-] WorkingClassCorpse@hexbear.net 31 points 4 months ago

Tesla fanboys and florida vacationers being the first people to get booted off of privatized property insurance might be the best way to start the era of climate disaster. The only way this would be better is if all the newly uninsured cybertrucks are in florida for a IRL meetup when a hurricane sweeps them all into the ocean.

[-] Hello_Kitty_enjoyer@hexbear.net 25 points 4 months ago

No shit, the lizardmen are always tryna keep a whiteboy down billionaire-tears

[-] NewLeaf@hexbear.net 25 points 4 months ago

So like, elon is going to start insuring them himself, but there will be no coverage.

Write it down.

[-] NewLeaf@hexbear.net 9 points 4 months ago

Would it be gauche to sneak in a couple of things for myself? Nothing too heavy. Maybe just no car problems for a while, and maybe those Modest Mouse tickets I want?

[-] Flyberius@hexbear.net 5 points 4 months ago

The monkey paw curls.

Your car is repossessed, after which it gets bought by an eccentric collector who ensures it is always in pristine condition for the rest of time.

Later you win a competition, the prize? Tickets to see Iron Horse play their bluegrass tribute album "Pickin' on Modest Mouse".

[-] NewLeaf@hexbear.net 3 points 4 months ago

That second part wouldn't be too bad.

It truly is the Florida of cars

[-] Flyberius@hexbear.net 22 points 4 months ago

Geico is another one of those us company names that just baffles my Anglo brain.

Is it just the result of 8 billion corporate mergers and Geico is the soulless name that just happened to be spat out the end?

[-] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 11 points 4 months ago

But they have a cute gecko mascot!

I avoid ads like the plague so the first time I learned about it was in a Reddit thread. I'm American but I never felt less American my whole life. I had no idea what Geico was and why it/they had a mascot. Somebody called it the "Geico lizard" which outraged some Redditors who corrected the OP by telling them repeatedly it was a gecko. When I googled - I had a good laugh. My guess was that it was anime related or maybe something related to a band maybe? I'll never understand how passionate Americans can be about a marketing tool.

[-] emizeko@hexbear.net 13 points 4 months ago

the word for gecko in mandarin 壁虎 (bìhǔ) translates literally to "wall tiger"

[-] CoolerOpposide@hexbear.net 7 points 4 months ago

Geckos are literally lizards… what?

What if he had insurance but it was for the fellas?

Oh shit we've excluded half the population, change the letters slightly

[-] CoolerOpposide@hexbear.net 15 points 4 months ago

Masterful gambit epic sir my-hero

[-] take_five_seconds@hexbear.net 15 points 4 months ago

this mf bought a cybertruck and got insurance from fucking geico lmao

[-] RyanGosling@hexbear.net 13 points 4 months ago

I had Geico insure my CT on March then this month they just increase 200$/month premium so i switched to Tesla

I know all insurance companies want to save money but i feel that a Tesla operated insurance has more incentives to save money and falsely conclude that defects and damages arent Tesla’s fault.

[-] InevitableSwing@hexbear.net 6 points 4 months ago

I need to google other sayings that basically mean "they aren't the sharpest tools in the shed". I've worn that one out when it comes to the Cybertruck. I'm sort of in awe at how stupid, clueless, and naïve they are.
