So ban an established language in order to ethically cleanse a nation from the population and then introduce a virtually alien one from your western masters. This completely destroys all the arguments that were made to support the russian language ban.

It seems too on-the-nose, almost like parody

Zelensky 🤝 Sisi 🤝 Milei : selling their country

[-] SexUnderSocialism@hexbear.net 32 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

For all of their nationalist rhetoric, fascists sure love selling their country as best they can.

[-] ComradeSalad@lemmygrad.ml 29 points 4 months ago* (last edited 4 months ago)

Nazi Germany coined the word “privatization”. Fascists are the undisputed kings of selling out their country.

This is the equivalent of current French colonial states in Africa having French be one of their official languages.

As stated in the explanatory note to the bill, currently, English is (...) one of the six languages of the United Nations

Hmmm I wonder if among the other five there's a language a huge percentage of the population ALREADY FUCKING SPEAKS, a language that quite ironically is ZELENSKY'S FIRST LANGUAGE, a languge they wanted to suppress so badly they first removed it from print and then made it illegal for regular citizens to bring books in that language across the border?

https://web.archive.org/web/20181215121309/https://www.theguardian.com/books/2017/feb/14/ukraine-publishers-speak-out-against-ban-on-russian-books

By the way exact same thing is happening in Georgia, Russian language which is widely spoken is being banned and instead English language is enforced but only a small percentage of the population has the ability to study it.

It's even worse there because unlike Ukraine (and despite being a much smaller country), Georgia is quite ethnically diverse and many ethnic minorities don't speak Georgian OR English, they speak their own fucking language and Russian...

I know English is super common (we all know why that is) but it doesn’t mean you have to adopt it as an official language. I don’t even think English is widely spoken in Ukraine so this move is just silly.

It makes life easier for their handlers, and that's why it's happening.

Imagine my shock when a puppet of the USA adopts it's master's language!

[-] NikkiB@lemmygrad.ml 21 points 4 months ago

Not allowed to use Russian, though. Strange...

[-] m5rki5n@lemmygrad.ml 18 points 4 months ago

Wonderful, now I get to speak in my second language, but ironically, not the first...

Surely this is sign of Ukraine eventually going to win and singlehandedly kick RuZZia's ass! /s

Puts on lib hat

Well you see, this shows that the war is basically already won and that Zelensky is getting back to governing affaris because they don't need to pay attention to those (sorry which slur are we using right now? The hordes one again? Got it) asiatic hordes anymore.

Throws off hat in disgust

This is so the Brits can send their new conscripts over to fight Russia to protect their heritage rather than because NATO is getting directly involved.
