That's forced perspective.

Unfortunately.

He's bigger but he ain't giant.

Fisherman: (snikering*) yup, uhuh that’s exactly what he looked like maybe a little bigger.

Taxidermist: wait this isn’t another mermaid incident is it?

Fisherman: … WE WERE AT SEA A LONG TIME!!!

I have never subscribed to a community so quickly before this, and may never again.

Thank you!

Doing the Lord's work ❤️

The blue whale in the London Natural History Museum was disproportioned for similar reason.

[-] woodenghost@hexbear.net 2 points 11 months ago

Really? The one in the entrance hall or the one in the whale exhibit?

[-] milicent_bystandr@lemm.ee 2 points 11 months ago

The big entrance hall one, IIRC. If you go to the upper galley that encircles it, there's a board there that explains. The hanging skeleton is wider, and the real animal more slim and long.

btw this is what a walrus normally looks like

[-] Lemminary@lemmy.world 10 points 11 months ago

I wish they could stuff me to get rid of my wrinkles. Win win win 😏
