Something uniquely gross and upsetting to have a woman have to cook in lingerie to get twitch views/donations whatever. G*mers continue being disgusting.

[-] hamid@vegantheoryclub.org 25 points 2 weeks ago

The entire video made me really sad

[-] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 17 points 2 weeks ago

stalin-stressed full disclosure I watch porn to get off and really want to quit, but something about this, like seeing how shameless it is just makes me feel blackpilled. And you just now there's hungry techbro freak G*mers out there donating to her chat to say vulgar shit.

This is why I mourn for the long lost era of /r/gonewild, where people just posted their tits, balls and ass just to be horny little goblins with each other.

As much as I can appreciate that onlyfans has opened up some good income for a lot of people I fucking hate how the end result has been the death of the fun exhibitionist, now 90% of nudes on Reddit are people plugging their paid content

I mean, it takes a deeper darker level of awooga to not seperate porn life from the rest of one's activities...

♫ When you're looking for material to stimulate, it's very rare that you might think about how it is made ♫

i... thought everyone did? is people being exploited for profit not a turn-off for people?

is this supposed to be some sort of condemnation of all erotic media? how would that make sense given how often basically... every other industry I can think of does tons of horrific things yet people just seem to... not care when buying it?

it really doesn't seem like a unique part of the concept of erotic media in general, just moreso a (probably purposeful) lack of introspection among most treatified people

edit: ok you're just pointing out exactly the thing about treatburgers ignoring the production circumstances of their treats, blob-no-thoughts

forms of NSFW content discussioni dunno if i can give any actually good advice, but other than the usual "just use your imagination" type statements i would recommend to just switch to erotica or even erotic drawn art from based or uncringe people (usually gay people) (lots will still draw straight stuff too, though. commissions and importantly, given their inherently consensual nature, gift art of people's characters)
i feel like if your goal is to stop giving money to abusive industries than the fastest way to do that would be to just replace that industry entirely in your life, instead of trying to go through the longer process of quitting it entirely and still relying on that industry in the mean time.

If you want to quit for self-improvement/health reasons, all power to you but I find the actual benefits of abandoning any erotic content altogether quite suspect. There's a lot of studies that are funded by questionable sources, based on misunderstandings of how brain chemicals work, and plenty of findings that could be much more readily explained by the misogynistic messaging of 99% of pornography in existence. Plus most conversations, especially scientific ones, seem to completely ignore queer or alternative communities or even just individuals who produce erotic media. Either that or purposefully pretend like they don't exist. This paragraph I only specifically point out because I see a lot of pretty intense self-hatred from professed porn addicts (specifically, the kind that view porn a lot, not the kind that do so compulsively to the detriment of other things in their life) and a lot of it either seems like kinkshaming themselves or a misdirection of the issue from their discomfort with misogyny and dehumanization, to their own sex drive. I don't think it's healthy to be harsh on oneself when it comes to this.

I would recommend reading Sexed Up by Julia Serano, altogether it makes a pretty good model for how sexualization works which is very helpful if you are concerned about it and especially if you are concerned about sexualizing others. Though in this case specifically it is relevant how it actually gives a solid basis to analyze the problematic elements of the porn industry in a way that doesn't accidentally have a bunch of scatter fire on other innocent groups of people in the way that most mainstream critics of it end up doing. The general social consensus seems to be that "the pornography industry is bad because pictures of sex are bad" which is a pretty blatantly incorrect statement that also, very conveniently (and probably why it is the current opinion with the most media attention) ignores the actual material ways it hurts the workers in that industry as well as the actual ways it causes harm socially.

Applying Serano's concepts of sexualization, as well as derivitization, with even just a basic marxist analysis gives a shockingly clear picture of the actual nature of the porn industry as well as it's incidentally symbiotic relationship with both patriarchal structures and the parts of capital that produce it.

I actually want to make a post about the last part I mentioned here, but I'm unsure if it's better as a funny communist website post or an actual publication at this point.

Mini PSA: the immiscibility of water is only PART of why you don't want to dump water on a grease fire

The actual reason is that that hot, hot oil will flash the water into steam, causing the pot of burning oil to explode all over, spraying said burning oil. This is how it can "make it spread faster"

[-] KobaCumTribute@hexbear.net 18 points 2 weeks ago

spraying said burning oil.

Specifically aerosolizing it, not just splashing it around, for anyone who's unclear on what sort of "spray" is produced. It turns a big lump of burning oil where only some of it can get oxygen into a huge cloud of tiny oil particles that are each surrounded by oxygen, creating yet another additional explosion as suddenly a lot more of it is burning a whole lot faster.

Like it's not just a bad idea that makes the fire bigger, it's a catastrophically bad idea that turns the entire room its in into fire instantly.

Now technically there is an amount of water that can put out a small enough grease fire, but it's on the order of hundreds of gallons hitting it all at once so unless someone has a bathtub sized emergency reservoir on a quick release directly above their stove, they're not going to manage it with a glass or a pot or even a large bucket full of water. Especially since the actual solution is just "put a thing that won't be on fire over it and it will stop."

[-] BobDole@hexbear.net 24 points 2 weeks ago

If you don’t have a lid handy or one that fits the pot/pan, use a sheet pan that’s larger than the pot/pan!

[-] calabast@lemm.ee 15 points 2 weeks ago

And don't slam the cover down, put it on the edge of the pot and then slide it over to cover the whole opening.

[-] LaGG_3@hexbear.net 10 points 2 weeks ago

Learned that one watching that stupid Worst Chefs show. Who would've guessed you can learn something watching reality TV blob-no-thoughts

[-] blame@hexbear.net 20 points 2 weeks ago

had a grease fire ignite one time. managed to grab a metal salad bowl and throw it over top of the fire and put it out in just a few seconds. was actually kind of proud of myself that i had the presence of mind to do the right thing in the situation. bought a fire extinguisher after that.

[-] Assian_Candor@hexbear.net 14 points 2 weeks ago

watching the video it's interesting how long it takes to get going. like it starts out pretty small & manageable so if you act quick it isn't that big of a deal

i love that my dude ended up solving the problem by just yeeting the pan, burning oil and all. hope nobody was hurt

[-] Hexboare@hexbear.net 10 points 2 weeks ago

With his bare hand no less, while holding a towel in the other

[-] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 19 points 2 weeks ago

Bruh, if I get a grease fire I'm getting my blowtorch; fight fire with fire, duh

[-] buckykat@hexbear.net 11 points 2 weeks ago

Fred Hampton said not to do that

[-] shreddingitlater@hexbear.net 8 points 2 weeks ago

Thinking of that one IASIP episode where the gang baits Frank into an intervention at their bar by telling him there's a grease fire and he busts in with his gun drawn screaming "WHERE IS IT? WHERES THE FIRE?"

[-] Aru@lemmygrad.ml 7 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

I'll get my Turkich fire

[-] HarryLime@hexbear.net 17 points 2 weeks ago

I keep a fire extinguisher next to my kitchen but these are good tips

[-] chickentendrils@hexbear.net 13 points 2 weeks ago

All of these will be less messy so there's that at least. Unless it's a CO2 extinguisher, those are rated for grease fires (class B).

[-] Evilsandwichman@hexbear.net 14 points 2 weeks ago

After watching it, I'm reminded of something that happened to me when I was a kid and thought playing with fire was cool (I was a kid): I set something alight and noticed it was catching something else nearby on fire. At first I nearly panicked but then I remembered something I studied in chemistry, that you need oxygen for fire; so I picked up a nearby plastic container and covered the small fire and poof, fire went out.

Thank you chemistry!

[-] ReadFanon@hexbear.net 12 points 2 weeks ago

Be super careful if you are thinking about moving a grease fire.

You absolutely don't want to spill it as you are moving it because it slips from your hands, because you are panicking, or because the flames get bigger and you recoil.

If you have the money, buy a fire blanket and keep one on a wall or inside a cabinet door such as a pantry door. They aren't that expensive and as long as it hasn't been used it will last you a lifetime. Your life, your health, your belongings as well as those of your pets and loved ones are worth it. Think of it like an insurance policy.

Just remember that you want the fire blanket near the stove. Not beside it. The last thing you want to do is have flames blocking you from reaching the damn thing.

Also welding gloves > oven mitts for the kitchen. They protect your forearms and you're going to have a better time dealing with a fire wearing those than you would with an oven mitt. Same goes if you have open fires, especially if you're camping. Being able to throw on some gloves to pick up a log of burning wood can spare you from disaster.

You got me curious, but I can't watch it

[-] Alisu@hexbear.net 5 points 2 weeks ago

Ah, nitter still works. But watching it just made me feel sad
