truck around find out
FYI this was a commercial truck transporting gravel, yah know what trucks are meant for, not some burgerbrain compensating for something.
Are trucks meant for surpassing weight limits of bridges
No the operator was being stupid.
Just saying this was a truck being used for what it's actually intended for having an accident due to operator error.
Bet the gravel was like 20% of the entire weight
I was just thinking "damn, an F-750?? is this a parody" thinking it's a truck the size of optimus prime
I saw a YouTube video where someone who lives next to a covered bridge clipped together every truck that ignored the clearance signs and damaged the bridge. The description said there's a $5k fine for that.
The comments were full of, "This is a scam! They need to fix that bridge". Americans are so broken that personal freedom is now the right to destroy historic bridges without consequences.
"This bridge can't accommodate your ridiculous treat-truck and we will fine you if you break it."
Pickup owners: "tHiS iS a ScAm"
I bet these same people post comments like "fuck around, find out" and "should have listened" on videos of people getting shot by the cops for not following their orders one hundred percent.
These are the same people that post about how the city is targeting them because their cars keep getting towed after parking in the bus stop
Reminds me of this legendary truck killer https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norfolk_Southern%E2%80%93Gregson_Street_Overpass
the videos of this are darkly funny. so many collisions
we should build more such bridges.
I think you could shoot everyone that owns a F-X50 and it would be a net positive for the earth
oh no not the small business owners
They take on the risk!!! Will no one think of the risk!!!

Based on the images, the bridge gave way almost immediately under the weight of the truck. The driver suffered minor injuries but was able to exit the vehicle on his own. Luckily, no one else was hurt, considering the area is popular with swimmers and kayakers.
Wow
Looks like the "F" in F-150 stood for...FAT
[yeeeeeeow]

I found a YouTube link in your comment. Here are links to the same video on alternative frontends that protect your privacy:
I came looking for this comment.
This was a commercial truck meant for heavy loads. They are sometimes used as dump trucks. It should have been obvious that it wouldn't get across that bridge.
It should have been obvious
Your faith in truck drivers' ability to notice signs is sorely misplaced.
the ones with CDLs are usually better than some rando gender affirmation customer
lol, I was assuming that it would be in the middle of the bridge, but that happened, like, immediately. I don't even think the whole thing was on there yet...
Also, it's hard to say for sure, but that wood looks in pretty solid condition too. Did the article include the weight of the truck and weight limit of the bridge?
https://www.thedrive.com/news/overweight-ford-f-750-plunges-through-historic-wooden-bridge-in-maine
The weight limit of the bridge was 3 tons, which likely wouldn't even support an empty F-750, and the article mentions that the truck was hauling a load of crushed gravel. The bridge might as well have been made of paper.
I'm sure they woke up just fine in their own home only to realize that they don't remember surviving or getting home. That's when the new family starts moving in...
