"Political endorsement can backfire"

You think she doesn't know this? Girl stayed as neutral as she possibly could for YEARS.

Her hand was forced; Trump put her in a position where if she didn't pick a side, then that would be an implicit but very clear endorsement of him. And as she definitely didn't want to endorse him... well, the rest is history.

Fake AI generated endorsements for Trump had to force her hand too.

I assume that's what they were referencing. Trump has mentioned Taylor several times in the past, and none resulted in a response like this.

She may not have publicly endorsed anyone if Trump had not retweeted that clearly fake shit implying that Swift was endorsing him. Not responding at all to something so egregious would be seen by many as an implicit endorsement.

Yes. That's what they're talking about.

She single handlely got almost 500k to register to vote in 48 hours.

I wouldn't exactly call that small.

No, to click on that link. Some would have already been registered or didn't follow through.

Impressive nonetheless, but quite different than ~500k registrations.

Yeah didn't Hillary lose by like a total of 80k votes in a few key states?

Not the first time a celebrity endorsement helped someone win an election. Reagan famously was endorsed by aging hollywood star Ronald Reagan.

Star? He was B-list at best.

[-] DancingBear@midwest.social 28 points 3 months ago

What could backfire? She’s already a billionaire.

The amount of fans that show up at one of her shows could be the difference in Michigan.
