Sell it to whom, Ben? Another fucking private data hoarder? The problem isn’t just who owns Chrome, it’s the product itself and the way it’s designed to centralize control and exploit user data. Breaking it up or making it public would be the only way to fix this mess.

Waiting until it's coincidentally sold to a company indirectly funded by Google

Trump's DOJ probably reverses this request in 30 seconds. I doubt this happens within two months.

Except Google search is already dead in the water to LLM-powered search, so crippling Google empowers Peter Thiel

I actually looked up an archive link. Trump's first DOJ started this lawsuit, so potentially this could actually happen.

I do think that Google is so uniquely powerful that selling off Chrome to someone else is a net positive. It won't make Google search lose its status as top search engine for a while.

Stripping Chrome for parts would be better, but this is significant.

Good thing about Trump and his government last time was that he inadvertently went after the right people because he got into a personal spat against "the algorithms" (which they might as well use echo braces on at this point).

It's the same reason he took the piss out of Elon the first time he was offered his account back on Twitter. But just like that, there's a chance he turns face the moment he's scared Google a little bit.

I wonder though. The right wing thinks tech companies "shadowban" them so maybe they let it go through?
