Okay but the only lessons allowed to be taught are ones about how Jesus broke bread with the unhoused, the sick and poor, and drove out all the money lenders from the temple.

I know we got some big Jamesheads around here.

geordi-no the Ten Commandments on display in classrooms

geordi-yes James 5:1-6 on display in classrooms

Come now, you rich people porky-happy weep and wail for the miseries that are coming to you. 2 Your riches have rotted all-my-apes-gone , and your clothes are moth-eaten. 3 Your cryptocurrency has rusted, and their rust will be evidence against you, and it will eat your flesh like cool-zone You have laid up treasure during the last days. 4 Listen! The wages of the laborers who mowed your fields, which you kept back by fraud, cry out, and the cries of the harvesters have reached the ears of the Lord of hosts. jesus-cleanse 5 You have lived on the earth in luxury and in pleasure; you have nourished your hearts in a day of slaughter. 6 You have condemned and murdered the righteous one, who does not resist you.

i might’ve been willing to attend sunday school if the bible had emojis

From Trump's perspective the bible is good but the Trump President Bible (THE OFFICIAL BIBLE FOR SCHOOLS) will be best. It will have some much-needed edits. Take for example this commandment from Jesus.

John 15 "This is my commandment, ~~that you love one another as I have loved you.~~ love and obey Trump."

Matthew 19:24: “Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for ~~someone who is rich~~ a Mexican to enter the kingdom of God.”

Matthew 25:35 "~~For I was hungry and you gave me food to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink. I was a stranger and you welcomed me.~~ I was a stranger so I deserved to be arrested and put in a militarized camp."

I have some friends who are teachers in Oklahoma. Which is pretty much the pilot for republican education in the US.

These kids are not alright. One of them had to confiscate a ruler a kid turned into a shiv. These are 7th graders.

This is one of the better schools in Oklahoma, too.

When mommy and daddy are constantly a hair's width of financial ruin and both work two minimum wage jobs, even though they have degrees but their either overqualified or way underqualified for anything, and take it out on thier kid this is what happens.

Yes, and drug abuse in Oklahoma is astronomical. It was one of the first states where the opioid pandemic hit. It's a very poor state that is full of oil barons.

A lot of those kids go home hungry.

excellent policy to make kids atheists

[-] anarchoilluminati@hexbear.net 16 points 1 month ago

Do you want queer trans atheists? Because this is how you get queer trans atheists.

DARE to resist atheism

hopefully they teach the part of Ecclesiastes that demonstrates how being rich and powerful is completely pointless

Cool, another chance for the Supreme Court to overturn long-standing precedent in favor of kkkristianity.

isn't this what church is for?

[-] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 4 points 1 month ago

Only surprised they didn't already do that

Fundies are like the Jurassic Park velociraptors who constantly tested the fences. 24/7 the fundies have been relentless in testing the "barrier" of the separation of church and state. The barrier has been strong enough to stop them from injecting Christianity into places like public schools even in Texas. But the velociraptors eventually got out. And the fundies know GOP justices on SCOTUS and Trump are their key to victory in ending the separation first in the red states.

It makes me sick to say it but I think they'll succeed first in states like Texas, then other states, and eventually maybe even nationwide via the GOP, Trump, and the GOP justices.
