The speed of emoji creation is amazing

"it's disturbing how people lose their humanity when hiding behind their keyboards" says the man who regularly denies people life saving medical treatment while hiding behind his keyboard. I dare you to sit in a room with these parents when you tell them their child will continue to suffer because you want to afford another house.

this. I would say IMAX level projection but that would be too kind.

[-] OptimusSubprime@hexbear.net 21 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, more like drive-in movie theater levels of projection.

[-] Palacegalleryratio@hexbear.net 18 points 2 weeks ago

‘Laser projector bright enough to cast an image visible from earth on the andromeda galaxy dust cloud’ levels of projection.

Capitalism is the computer they're hiding behind. The abstraction of fault.

[-] BoxedFenders@hexbear.net 69 points 2 weeks ago

One anonymous lone gunman is going to force more change to the health insurance industry than 20 years of empty Democratic campaign promises.

[-] SorosFootSoldier@hexbear.net 54 points 2 weeks ago

nooooo you're supposed to waste years trying to change the system from inside only for it to all fail time after time wojak-nooo

[-] AOCapitulator@hexbear.net 34 points 2 weeks ago

Parents will freak out if you don't give their child a glass of water when they're thirsty or don't give them life saving treatment when they're dying.

Bunch of crybabies amirite fellow executives

"What's most disturbing is the ability of people to hide behind their keyboards and lose their humanity."

[-] tombruzzo@hexbear.net 25 points 2 weeks ago

It's okay to lose your humanity when you hide behind a team of lawyers

Comes from this article

They really try to downplay how people feel about this

In a further sign of barbs lobbed at UnitedHealth, a statement posted on the Minnesota-based group’s Facebook page about Thompson’s killing garnered 53,000 laughing “emojis”. While the posts on social media represent an extreme fringe, they underscore a broad sense of malaise in the country over the health system

My ultra conservative, offline coworkers all agree bozo had it coming

This dipshit also spends the entire article conflating 'insurance companies' with 'healthcare industry' like NO bitch, nobody fucking thinks of fucking Cigna when they think of healthcare.

From elsewhere: The United Nations International Standard Industrial Classification (ISIC) categorizes the healthcare industry as generally consisting of:

Hospital activities;
Medical and dental practice activities;
"Other human health activities".

Fucking leeches want to sound so wholesome

This is also the paragraph following the comments in the pic

Matt Eyles, a healthcare industry veteran who previously ran America’s Health Insurance Plans, an industry body of which UnitedHealth is not a part, said most health insurance executives are deeply aware of the challenges patients face. He said: “We’ve all had friends or family who’ve gone through terrible health issues, and sometimes it can be frustrating to navigate the healthcare system and deal with health insurance.”

Half the article is just him moaning about how poorly they're all treated

Tapeworms calling themselves a part of human digestion system.

[-] redtea@lemmygrad.ml 6 points 2 weeks ago

listen, I understand your pain. I was sad too when I had to deny medical care to my own children but you know what, they've got real character now

[-] WhatDoYouMeanPodcast@hexbear.net 24 points 2 weeks ago

Me losing my humanity: "Fuck you, asshole!"

Them losing their humanity: kills people for profit

[-] Class_of_1917@hexbear.net 10 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah but one is quiet and in the background

[-] Evilphd666@hexbear.net 23 points 2 weeks ago

What's most disturbing is how corproate murderers and tourturers for profit can hide behind a pandoras box of paperwork, red tape, ivory towers, legalese and corruption and lose their humanity.

[-] TerminalEncounter@hexbear.net 23 points 2 weeks ago

I read a book called The Gone Away World and it wasn't my favourite or particularly good, but near the beginning the passages about the Company Man whos soul slowly gets eaten by the Company and profit in general every time they make a decision against humanity or solidarity and for profit has stayed with me. Inch by inch, doing that job is going to turn you into what I'll facilely say is a Bad Person

"You're losing your humanity"

The dying patient literally losing their humanity: 🙄

[-] Utter_Karate@hexbear.net 17 points 2 weeks ago

If I was inclined to give one former Cigna executive tips, I would tell them that if they think this is the moment to go public with what they find "most disturbing", whatever that is, then one former Cigna executive may have misread the public mood slightly.

[-] redtea@lemmygrad.ml 4 points 2 weeks ago

Let them keep judging the mood based on op eds.

[-] Anvil_Lavigne@hexbear.net 11 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

oh yeah they're racking up humanity losses while clinging for dear life to the masquerade glasses-on

[-] AnneVolin@lemmy.ml 9 points 2 weeks ago* (last edited 2 weeks ago)

Which ever idiot publication wrote this didn't call the absolute moron ghoul for constructing a strawman where a doctor recommended giving cancer treatments to a child with seizures. That 100% did not happen.

If that did happen, then why didn't your insurance company file complaints with the AMA, FSMB, and The Joint Commision for a charlatan that's trying to take this kid and your money for a ride and has likely been successful a couple of times?

It's so incredibly easy to lie.
