Fucking half measures like always but thank God Leonard can finally go home
The one actual harm reduced by Biden
Not a pardon, but still a win. Hallelujah!
these pleases me as a proud Leonard Peltier voter
Oh hell yeah! This wasn't one I was expecting, but I'm psyched for it. ๐
Holy shit, can't say I expected to ever see this happen lol. This is great, he deserved a full pardon 50 years ago but even this is still way more than I expected from any US president. I hate Biden for a ton of reasons, but there have been several moments during his administration that he's surprised me in a good way tbh. ~~Maybe the Democrats would stop sucking quite as bad if they did stuff like this consistently and didn't wait until the last week of the presidency~~
About time, great news!
Hot take: This is Biden's revenge on the FBI for failing to remove Trump from the chessboard and secure him a second term.
Cold take: This is good no matter what cynical reasons it was done for.
Kind of amazing they are still clinging to the idea that he did that shit with quite literally no evidence, I'm glad he did something at least, I heard Deb Haaland* spoke to him directly about this throughout his term, so if she couldn't convince him no one could, I also heard Leonard has diabetes and a few other health problems and wasn't getting proper medical treatment so I hope he gets that at least, even though he is still not free in home confinement.
Natalie Bara, the president of the FBI Agents Association, which advocates for active and retired agents, said it is "outraged" by Biden's reprieve for Peltier.
"This last-second, disgraceful act by then-President Biden, which does not change Peltier's guilt but does release him from prison, is cowardly and lacks accountability," Bara said in a statement. "It is a cruel betrayal to the families and colleagues of these fallen Agents and is a slap in the face of law enforcement."
Get fucked Natalie and by association all other feds.
Why the fuck is Scahill still on X
probably audience size (and for me, bsky frontend doesn't work, so i don't bother checking it, so maybe he is there)
