The rapper formerly known as Kanye West directed viewers to his website, where the homepage was selling a T-shirt with a swastika on the front.

I couldn't have taken enough drugs to write this timeline 20 years ago. WTF is happening? Maybe CERN did break the universe with the LHC

Harambee was our anchor being. Everything's been fraying at the edges since that day.

This dude is off the fucking rails, batshit insane.

[-] BaroqueInMind@lemmy.one 46 points 1 week ago

And what's sad is that he's wealthier than everyone that uses lemmy, combined.

Why the fuck does good shit always happen to bad people, and good people always get shit on?

[-] NegativeLookBehind@lemmy.world 39 points 1 week ago

At least you're not a black Nazi, bud. Money doesn't equal happiness. I bet he's miserable.

[-] Soup@lemmy.world 30 points 1 week ago

Money does, however, buy security. Money would solve all of my worst problems and make the other ones easier to handle. We don’t need a lot, but sure as hell need more than we have now and people like him don’t deserve a damn fucking cent(besides any universal social programs because that’s what universal means and I ain’t gunna be that guy).

You don't get wealthy if you're good, because it takes a certain amount of greed and materialism

[-] can@sh.itjust.works 12 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Probably not a popular opinion around here, but this is actually one of the rare cases where he is (was) extremely talented at his main thing (producing). That doesn't mean he deserves that disproportionate amount of wealth, but he's contributed more to culture than elon ever could.

He knows he's black, right?

[-] spooky2092@lemmy.blahaj.zone 18 points 1 week ago

He's "one of the good ones" and rich so he's all good.

That's always worked out in the past.

What's insane is that FOX allowed this commercial to air in the first place. I'm sure someone at FOX will say "We had no idea he would put this on his site", which we'll all know is bullshit because they scrutinize the fuck out of every Super Bowl ad before it gets to air. There is a 0% chance that nobody knew about this beforehand.

[-] Remember_the_tooth@lemmy.world 61 points 1 week ago

At least the next Superbowl halftime show is going to be interesting:

Guys, just because he went on Alex Jones to make racist jokes and talk about how much he loves Hitler doesn't mean he's a nazi

ADL easily calls out this symbol as one “adopted by Hitler as the primary emblem of the Nazis,” but can’t say the same about an extremely recognizable salute also adopted by Hitler as a primary symbol of the Nazis.

[-] PP_BOY_@lemmy.world 38 points 1 week ago

The ADL is a zionist organization that was literally founded to protect a pedophile and child rapist who was, with no relevance to those actions whatsoever, Jewish. Do not take any of their "stances" as being for social justice.

[-] CCatMan@lemmy.one 58 points 1 week ago

Does this mean whatever payment processing center is used for his site is also pro, whatever this is?

[-] rational_lib@lemmy.world 40 points 1 week ago

It's shopify, which requires an account to report. So if anyone has a shopify account, please do the needful. Can probably be considered a threat of violence or terrorist organization, or both.

[-] rimu@piefed.social 27 points 1 week ago

I have an account.

When I tried to report it as terrorist organization, the form gets stuck in a redirect loop. It's broken.

Threat of violence worked but I needed to provide my full name, phone number and address which felt pretty shit.

One cannot help but notice that NBC is directing viewers to said website rather than other websites that are not owned by Kanye West and are not selling swastika T-shirts, which probably have a harder time getting potential customers to show up. I see that they also have pricing information and product photos.

One imagines that social media and similar probably also is directing a lot of people there.

This does suggest that West might be onto something.

In a world where people and organizations didn't discuss and link to the product, he might not have the same incentive.

Sad to see that the dude's in this state. He clearly needs psychiatric care, not a platform from which to yell his absurdities.

It's like a Mel Brooks movie! The guy in charge standing with his nose in the air, says something that any normal person would think is dumb as hell. And all the "yes men" are like "Bravo!" "Bully!" "Good show!" "Excellent!"

This goes for the orange man and X dork as well...

[-] Elgenzay@lemmy.ml 13 points 1 week ago

I actually didn't know that this was legal to do in the U.S.

[-] princessnorah@lemmy.blahaj.zone 11 points 1 week ago

There aren't a lot of jurisdictions in the world that ban the sale or display of the swastika (in Nazi-supporting circumstances). Australia and Germany are the only ones that come to mind, and Australia has only done so very recently (this year).

Anybody know what the official shop site is called? On yeezy(dot)com is only one item and that’s a white r-Shirt with a black swastika on the front.

The shop feels broken tho, because there are almost no ux elements.

Is he doing this to remain relevant?
