Well now that nintendos have been delayed there may be a chance of guillotines hitting the streets

[-] Lyudmila@hexbear.net 11 points 8 hours ago

No you guise, you don't understand!

This is gonna make prices lower somehow because The Communists (Jeff Bezos, Mike Walmart) will accept lower profits and then all the other Bad Countries will come groveling for the Best Trade Deals Ever!

[-] peeonyou@hexbear.net 3 points 6 hours ago

you forgot about Tim Apple, the most communist of all the US communists.

[-] SuperZutsuki@hexbear.net 39 points 10 hours ago

This is the end result of Mormons accounting for like half of the FBI/CIA. Non-caffeinated patriots are in control.

[-] peppersky@hexbear.net 27 points 10 hours ago

They'll drink those coffee alternatives people in the civil war drank with caffeine tablets mixed in

[-] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 16 points 9 hours ago

Nothing like a hot cup of chicory in the morning while smoking a cheroot.

[-] Lemister@hexbear.net 4 points 7 hours ago

Or like have coffee plantations in puerto rico and florida.

[-] MaxOS@hexbear.net 30 points 10 hours ago

Black Rifle Coffee will be exempt from the tariffs

[-] kristina@hexbear.net 4 points 5 hours ago

[-] PKMKII@hexbear.net 3 points 5 hours ago

Hmmm, economically destructive taxes put on imports of caffeinated beverage ingredient Americans consume large quantities of, except one favored corporation with deep ties to the state get an exemption to them? Why does that sound so familiar?

[-] FloridaBoi@hexbear.net 18 points 10 hours ago

The only black life that matters

[-] Tabitha@hexbear.net 15 points 10 hours ago

sounds like a great place to hang out once we run out of tesla dealerships.

[-] tim_curry@hexbear.net 49 points 11 hours ago

Nah bring back Victorian style capitalism. Coffee is now 5% actual coffee and the rest is laced with dirt and my farts, maybe some anthrax for fun

[-] goferking0@lemmy.sdf.org 19 points 10 hours ago

Why else would they be trying so hard to remove safety regulations and standards 😭😭😭😭😭😭

Life was better when jewlery made me spontaneously combust. Bread hasn't been the same since they stopped putting plaster in it

[-] GrouchyGrouse@hexbear.net 13 points 9 hours ago

[-] Wertheimer@hexbear.net 16 points 10 hours ago

I've been saying IRL that Trump is gonna bring back lead and asbestos to save the American economy.

[-] dannoffs@hexbear.net 16 points 10 hours ago

I mean, he literally thinks the laws against asbestos are a mafia conspiracy.

[-] CrowTankieRobot@hexbear.net 3 points 6 hours ago

Didn't that have something to do with the original World Trade Center buildings? As I recall, Trump also got it wrong (what a surprise)...the issue was the spray-on asbestos fireproofing that was applied to the girders and related support structures of WTC 1 and 2. I can't remember all the details anymore...maybe the fireproofing companies were mobbed up?

[-] dannoffs@hexbear.net 5 points 6 hours ago

He did blame the WTC collapse on there not being asbestos on the support structures but he was pro asbestos before. He blamed the abatement companies for being mobbed up in "The Art of the Comeback" in 1997

I believe that the movement against asbestos was led by the mob, because it was often mob-related companies that would do the asbestos removal. Great pressure was put on politicians, and as usual, the politicians relented. Millions of truckloads of this incredible fireproofing material were taken to special “dump sites” because of this stupid law

Americans will just switch to Celsius or whatever energy drinks. They won't do shit about losing treats aside from complain and pray for Kamala to bring them back in a few years

[-] FloridaBoi@hexbear.net 18 points 10 hours ago

The caffeine in energy drinks I think comes from the decaffeination process for decaf coffee

Those will also increase in price with tariffs on countries that supply aluminum and the ingredients to make that slop

Me, the espresso enjoyer miyazaki-pain

Coffee is already in a tenuous position due to climate change and its effect on suitable grow zones. Tariffs are just the cherry on top.

[-] Posadas@hexbear.net 29 points 12 hours ago

Are you ready for ze decaffeinated world order

Climate change is also causing some draughts, raising prices on certain regions. Working with the stuff, I'll always have quick access, but I often wonder how my job would look if suddenly these burlap sacks quadruple.

[-] EstraDoll@hexbear.net 34 points 12 hours ago

no trust me. the highly productive Kona region will supply the entire American market now that they don't have to compete with those inferior imports

[-] dannoffs@hexbear.net 21 points 11 hours ago

That's not fair, there's also Puerto Rico and whatever the fuck Jason Mraz is doing in Santa Barbara.

The beans I usually buy in bulk from a local roaster have gone up 25% in the last couple years for me. And I purposefully bought the cheaper ones. It sucks lmao
