The way the western economy is tied together through stock markets though means that one company or hedge fund failing because one manufacturer goes down, will cause a domino effect (either due to panic or interconnected stocks). That's the fear anyway. We've seen exactly that when Intel's stock went down, which was only mitigated by the Fed printing money and silently propping up the stock market.

The head of Ukrainian intelligence had said before that Russians only understand fear, in response to bombing civilian targets and raiding incursions in Belgorod. And some of the units in Kursk are under the direct control of Ukrainian intelligence.

And there's a video of a Ukrainian POW, who surrendered in Vovchansk, stating that he was recruited from prison into the Ukrainian army, and the recruiters promised them they would be used to attack Russia, and then let loose to rape and pillage as much as they wanted as bonus payment.

I think we all agree at this point that holding out for better negotiating terms will only result in a weaker position and worse outcome for Ukraine. Zelenskyy needs to wake up and start peace talks immediately.

There's been efforts to elevate the Azov Nazis in the eyes of Ukrainians recently, and the US has lifted sanctions to equip them. It's likely that they'll be used to conduct another coup if Zelensky tries to negotiate too early/give away too much. Or they are being prepared to take power again after peace is signed and Zelensky is gone.

Yes, from "southern" Cyprus

Certainly the government is kind of panicked right now. There's this weird thing going on where Hezbolah has accused Cyprus of participating in Israel's war crimes, but at the same time, the Lebanese government is saying the Cypriot government isn't involved in any hostilities with Lebanon, and ambassadors have been exchanging friendly compliments.

People in general are not willing to be entangled in war at all. But at the same time, most live in a bubble where they think nothing bad will happen.

Still, the majority of people assume that the government is lying. The communist party (AKEL) has been against whatever Cyprus is doing to aid Israel since almost the beginning, and has been organizing marches in support of Palestine since December. The right-wingers are more apathetic and critical than supportive, with few exceptions. Even parties that are cooperating with the government, are now unsure what to do, and some have started criticizing the government.

Oh they haven't? India-Pakistan conflict did not happen then. The Cuban missile crisis didn't happen either. I guess the US hasn't been trying to kill Iran's nuclear program with drone bombings and assassinations either.

I'd say open a book, but I don't think you have the capacity to benefit from it.

It's not so much about peace. USians are starting to get real angry that so much money is spent on Ukraine, especially after the debacle of the Maui wildfires.

Trump's promises of peace are tracting for exactly this reason.

I critically support Russia in this war. Materially, it's the best option right now to dismantle the US hegemony and open the road for socialist revolution.

That's a pretty vague definition you came up for to dismiss people.
