The laws are actually written down in a book, instead of having to be constructed from the last few hundred years of judges' decisions, so that's a plus. Also, it decriminalized homosexuality and gave more civil rights to Jews, so it was surprisingly progressive, as far as I understand it.

No president in our history has done worse.

What a statement. Forget the Native American genocide, the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, dozens of wars of aggression the world over, or, on an individual level, raping women and owning slaves (sometimes both at once): that's nothing compared to riling up followers on social media.

Besides, these platitudes about how important stating the obvious truth is are the kind of propaganda any side can claim for themselves. Real lack of media analysis on display here.

Every time people are being nostalgic about "early indies games" or somesuch, I get depressed. Like, that was supposed to be a revolution in video gaming, Mario with worse graphics and an extra gimmick?

A website that's completely empty really can't be revisionist, I suppose.

I remember people complaining about the podcast back in 2017 or so after Trump won. Everyone agreed that the years leading up to that were the prime of Chapo Trap House and everything after that has been a steady decline. Anyway, I never listened to the podcast save for that one time I had eye surgery and literally couldn't watch anything for half a day, so I don't really care too much.

It's a cult of personality party based on an ineffectual politician who promotes right-wing opinions in talk shows and on Youtube. I find it hard to imagine that they'll go far as a real political party.

Wait, whatever happened to Bari Weiss's fake university? Wasn't that basically the same thing?

Looking forward to Mastodon-style blocklists coming to Lemmy. Surely nothing can go wrong having a few individual admins with no oversight, evidence or chance to appeal make a list of instances to block

The book fair won't even ban Neo-Nazi publishers from attending, but in a case like this they react. Shows where their allegiances lie

This is a really silly question, but does anyone know some good texts about chapters in academic/non-fiction writing? It's just such a basic prerequisite that texts be organized into different sections and subsections that I don't manage to have one clever thought about it. Why do we have chapters? What are subchapters even? Is there writing outside of chapters? I would really appreciate some answers!

I'm also saying Baldur's Gate 3. The writing is juvenile, the combat is a slog, the characters are cliches, it retcons the story and characters of the game it's supposed to be a sequel to, it has possibly a worse UI than the original Baldur's Gate, and the famed reactivity and choice only works if you do things exactly how the developers intended you to do them. Oh, and the music is just forgettable.
