Except they are already vibes based so there is no reason to think the initial approximation is accurate. They could all be massive overestimates. There is no reason they need to regress to the mean.

They used telescopes to infer that this planet has a specific molecule on it that is known to be made by life on earth and not en masse by any other process.

IMO this is a stretch because life on another planet probably has somewhat different chemistry. There is a massive unfounded bias in all pop exobiology that finding other life means finding stuff just like life on earth.

Which is not to say it isn't neat but it is literally another planet light years away. We know almost nothing about it.

Their supposed plan is to have private companies do it and charge large fees. This would just crush all Aliexpress (as is) demand, though. To keep functioning they would switch to stateside warehousing models or some loophole. They already use their own repackaging service to make there be fewer packages and their own delivery services to bypass USPS, UPS, etc.

Basically all "AI" automation companies do this. They show off a prototype backed by global south labor to get investors and then scramble to build what they promised. Usually they don't build what they promised but they all got psid for 2+ years based on that bluff.

Log scales are great but cannot be understood by the vast majority of people. They simply aren't taught to a level of comprehension.

My primary requirement is that it can run an aftermarket oprn source firmware well. Like one of the WRTe or similar. I would find whatever is new and reliable that fits that requirement.

In this case I would recommend basically boiling it in a little salt first (put in a much taller bowl with water and nuke until boiling). This will give it a cleaner taste for later steps, especially if you just eat it with a nice sauce, which is a 100% legit option. Usually this would be done with a fresh softer tofu but this boiling trick can make it work very well for firm as well.

If you want yo have it with a sauce straight, then (carefully) pour out the water and replace with cold water. Repeat as necessaey until the tofu is chilled. Havr a nice chili oil or hoisin or a peanut sauce (or whatever you want!). Some chopped scallion will bring it all together.

If you want to prepare it to have more texture as part of another dish, make use of that convection option ans treat it like an air fryer as best you can. Cut into cubes, dry the outside (possibly rolles in a little starch or rice flour / wheat flour) and spritz a little oil, then blast with convection. I have never used a convection microwave but I feel like this should make it crisp up. You can then use it in a ton of different dishes, especially east asian and southeast asian ones.

You can also (cold) brine your tofu after the boiling step and use it as a paneer substitute in south asian food.
