Oh you think you’re a birdwatcher now? Cause you saw one bird? Listen up asshole, I’ve logged literally thousands of birds across seven continents and five oceans. Birds you’ve never even heard of. Birds that haven’t even been discovered by science yet. I’ve been published in ornithology journals for my observations. I’m recognized by the RSPB and the American Birding Association as one of the world’s premier birdwatchers. I’ve given lectures on ornithology at universities worldwide. And you think you can come in here with some fucking crow you saw in your backyard? Asshole.

After several years of feeding the birds and squirrels in my backyard, I've finally gotten some crows to start coming around regularly. I'm now conditioning them to associate my whistling with snacks, it's only a matter of time before I can launch my corvid-assisted revolution.

Once you get the crows on your side work on the vultures, they're bigger and scarier and just as interested in being fed by people

they like cat food

but will they build an entire culture around how you are good and your enemies are their enemies?

I'll have to develop a mutual language and get back to you on that one

I also have a few ravens in the neighborhood but I hardly ever see them. Still holding out hope for the heavy artillery.

Sic them on your local Tesla dealership

I want their brain to be my brain. Seems peaceful.

I saw both a robin and a blue jay today, the robin was bathing in a puddle and the jay swooped on it like a bully. What the hell, man? owl-pissed

[-] uSSRI@hexbear.net 15 points 3 months ago

Every animal hates blue jays. They are asssholes who don't ever stop screaming.

[-] john_brown@hexbear.net 11 points 3 months ago

my poor deceased cat very much enjoyed being carried around while blue jays cursed at us and I shook their trees, she knew they were dicks and had to be put in their place

I saw a family of ducks walk through my yard a while back. Wildest thing was that my husky saw them too and didn't react at all. I guess she just wasn't feeling prey driven that day.

Husky as a sled dog can't do hunting, union rules.

Did a walk through my local words the other day with Merlin running on my phone…spring migrants were finally here, and it was glorious gaddafi-happy

Merlin and Seek are the best examples I can think of that show how Machine Learning can be for things that aren’t just awful, but the market means that we only get fleeting glimpses of how technology could be used for good. (Although it is making me lazier with learning bird calls, which I need to work on!)
