What dating apps have you used?
Hmm actually I haven't really, almost at all. I tend to meet people IRL.
Why dating experience?
But in general I'm a workaholic serial monogamist, so I don't have as many relationships under my belt as most - 3-4 longer term and a sprinkling of dates (#2) and am sometimes unresponsive and drop off the map all the time (#9). Sorry future partners. Huh actually! This reminds me of something I actually want to know haha. I'll post a question about this to the sub tomorrow.
Would you say you’re married to your job?
Career is important to me right now, yeah. Lots of opportunities that only happen once per lifetime. But at some level I wonder if I'm just avoiding the relationships dimension of life.

Kinda? A long time ago? It went okay. I'd prefer not to go into details to respect their privacy. Reddit has been a surprisingly great way to meet people IRL! For friends, activities, fun / useful / interesting people of all kinds. The Malaysians who reddit tend to all be polarised in the same direction. 7/7 with rice, have not been murdered yet
Hmmmmmmm. Maybe the way to do the r/my sticky / theme weeks is like a themed but general update. The point of the theme is 50% to keep the sticky fresh for r/my readers, 50% to bootstrap our site one community at a time. So the call to action is to come hang out on the site more generally. Kinda like:
Hey guise, this is what's happening on monyet.cc this week!
- This week/fortnight/etc we're bootstrapping !malaysian_dating, come help us build this new sub up by sharing your dating woes / funny stories and posting personal ads
- We're doing daily food pic threads, come share your lunch with us
- And also we've upgraded to 0.18.1, there are now ez apps, password reset works, we've fixed problems xyz
I guess I'm mindful that we're solving a chicken-and-egg problem as we go. No users means no content. No content means no users. We have to kinda attack both sides at once IMO. We can't expect to keep asking a relatively fixed userbase to dig deep and contribute more content than is sustainable for them!

I agree with other commenters – while it'd be good to have some of these groups eventually, we prob shouldn't make a bunch of communities ahead of time, that we can't sustain readership for. Namesquatting and ghost towns will turn users away, vs creating as we go!
I also agree we can seed a few communities to start though! Bit by bit.
Food communities: I think three different people have suggested this now. I think this is really great. But which works best?
