Yeah, I mostly just use my web browser for now, but in a few months the third-party app scene for Lemmy should be very vibrant. I’m a Mastodon user as well and we’re spoilt with choices over there with great apps like Ivory, Mona, and Ice Cubes alongside the official app.
I haven’t noticed how it’s like at Book Xcess. Eslite bookstore’s BM section is small but their selection is pretty decent.
