It's fucking barbaric not only that the death penalty still exists in some states but also that solitary confinement is a thing and even prisoners that aren't a danger to others get put in it. (hexbear.net)

Just heard on the news today that Luigi is probably going to spend a lot of time in the hole because I guess people want to kill him. And that makes him safer, how? He's already in a prison cell it doesn't get more locked down than that.

My brother was in for unarmed robbery, spent over a third of 6 year sentence in the hole. I was already disgusted with our prison system but after having experience with it....barbaric doesn't even come close.

I don't want to say public defenders are worthless, its a really important job, but his was entirely unhelpful. And he made the number one mistake of getting arrested in the US, he was poor. Guess he was lucky he didn't make the other major mistake, being born anything other than white.

He was very much on the spectrum and I know it messed with him in weird ways. He was way more insular and after a few months out for some reason he decided his family was the cause of all his problems and basically never talked to us again.
