Someone had made a reply on a youtube video saying that Barbary lions were native to North Africa and were hunted to extinction in their habitats so I looked it up (because honestly with zero context this sounds like they were implying the people from North Africa were responsible; the average person doesn't know France had colonized many African countries) and found out it was the French who were responsible for the extinctions.

And you know what's crazy? If the people of North Africa had been responsible for the extinction it would've been blamed on them as people; but the French doing it, you know they won't blame the French as a people for it, and will come up with excuses for why it's either okay, or just those individuals, or why it's no longer relevant (which they wouldn't for people from North Africa).

Mostly irrelevant, but until like 10,000BC there were lions as far north as southern England.
