On this week this niche leftist forum was first launched (its was the 24th or 25th i think) Formed from the Chapotraphouse subreddit remnants that survived the reddit ban over the calls of violence against confederate slave owners, the first admins decided to use Lemmy as its base. Originally called Chapo.chat (ChaCha) Hexbear has grown into one of the biggest instances in the lemmyverse.
In this last 5 years hexbear has survived many diffent events from numerous struggle sessions, mod clique-users conflicts, wrecker incursions from other instances and sites, this image 
, a decent amount of fedidrama with other instances and the domain crisis, we still thrive with over 5 million comments and 375k posts.
I still continue my dictatorial rule over the general megathread for now over 4 years now, this time locked in the chapo comm so it can be more easily moderated, c/indigenous has now grown to 750 subs which im very happy plus now i take care of the empoc mega which has been pretty chill so far.
I still really enjoy the fedidrama, it fun to see all the fedilibs always thinking about hexbear despide the fact that they are on defederated instances and they can ust ignore us, we live rent free on their minds

Went on a river float for my first time and I'm and idiot and only reapplied sunscreen to my shoulders once during the four hour float and the rest of me is baked. Crisp. Lobster red. I don't know if I have been this sunburnt since I was a teen, maybe even a kid. Currently slathered in coconut oil after slathering myself in aloe and I hope to Christ it calms down tomorrow because I remember peeling and that shit suuuuuuuucks ass. I also was doing the god damn backstroke for like 2 hours of it too because for whatever reason I could not keep up with the front of the pack, probably getting stuck on the eddys because I don't know how to read the river. At least my shoulders will be bulletproof after this. And at least the baby rapids were fun and I feel accomplished.
Why is it that ill look at my body and be like "oh yeah, in not red yet, I don't need sunscreen again thats for wimps!"
If anyone has any other tips for sunburns pls let me know them
The blue aloe with lidocaine is very good but a mess to apply. The aloe spray is also very good. Keep both in the fridge.
