tbf i have seen someone do that, not on something extremely flammable though
also the person i saw do that wasn't a soldier that almost certainly has a fucking combat knife on him
I've opened the zip tie on a new pair of kitchen scissors with a lighter at work before
Chef walks in: "What the fuck are you doing?"
Me: "I didn't want to blunt my knife opening the zip tie"
Chef: "Use a beater [knife] you dumbass"
Me: "They're on the other side of the kitchen! I'm already halfway through melting it!"
Chef sighs then leaves
