Obviously a submarine sandwich is, in fact, a sandwich. What are we even doing here?
Also, if you ever say a hotdog is a sandwich within my hearing ever again I will explode. A hotdog is it's own category of snack food, and any resemblance it has to a sandwich is superficial at best.
Open-faced sandwiches are not real. That's just some shit piled on a piece of bread or toast. You look like a fool.
Open faced sandwiches are not only real, in some configurations they are superior to closed sandwiches.
Sometimes you just cant physically close a sandwich when it has finally reached optimum topping saturation, or the addition of more bread would spoil the ratio and therefore flavor.
And this is before we even get to the alchemy of the smörgåstårta.
My only objection there is if you layer open faced sandwiches they cease to be open faced
