I think the problem is most people suck at driving but they are forced to because there are literally no alternative methods of transportation in like 95% of burgerland. A robust public transit system would do a lot to mitigate this, both tailgaters and tailgatees.

Honestly I find myself saying "I really wish you didn't have to drive" to myself a lot while commuting

If I start thinking that then I start thinking about the kind of life I'd have in a civilized society and it makes me very sad so I don't do that.

There are so many people for which driving is the favorite part of their day.

Many of whom also suck at driving

they think they are "good" at driving because they pass a bunch of cars every time they drive but very few pass them. Mario Kart mentality

Most of my commute is down from the mountainous area of my state, so I don’t mind the windy backroads at all. It kind of does end up being a highlight of my day at Soul Sucking Job LLC.

driving like rallycross is fun, a suburban commute is hell and anyone who genuinely likes that needs reeducation

Driving can be therapeutic in a way that’s hard to describe. I could find some sort of satisfaction driving almost anything; bus, forklift, riding mower, Zamboni… something about steering a machine around a space just scratches the itch. It helps if you have the right vehicle and a manual transmission to maximize the stimming potential.

I wouldnt impose this on all of society, but I’m sure there are others like this, that’s why so many people dream of being a bus driver

I recently started working out heel toe shifting and it's super fun.

I wouldnt impose this on all of society

Especially the person who would rather watch tiktok videos instead of focusing on driving their Kia Telluride or whatever

Same reason I love sailing at night. Just pure nothing but the view.

The venn diagram of people who like their suburban commute and divorced dads is a circle.
