Because they stopped making them and you couldn't find them and skinny jeans were the in-thing.

I fucking hated it. I suddenly had to change my style whether I liked it or not.

[-] Zenith@lemm.ee 18 points 10 months ago

Idk my husband never changed, Levi’s always had these

[-] H4mi@lemm.ee 6 points 10 months ago

Same. 527 is my current choice. I’m wearing a pair right now.

[-] heleos@lemm.ee 3 points 10 months ago

Gonna turn your 501s into 499s

[-] GroundedGator@lemmy.world 3 points 10 months ago
[-] H4mi@lemm.ee 3 points 10 months ago

Those look awesome, thanks for the tip.

My all time fav are 503, but they have not been in production since the 2000’s. I held on to my limited collection of them until they were all in a state of disrepair. I’m still hoping for a revival of the model.

Wrangler relaxed fit boot cut

[-] Flocklesscrow@lemm.ee 5 points 10 months ago

This is the answer, right here.

[-] M137@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

I have several pants like this, they're still common second-hand.

Probably after we got tired of walking around with soaking ankles

[-] caseyweederman@lemmy.ca 18 points 10 months ago

And absolutely shredded cuffs.

[-] FrostyCaveman@lemm.ee 71 points 10 months ago

Because they stopped making them!

They sucked though, the leg ends would always end up getting wet, muddy, and/or torn off

[-] hOrni@lemmy.world 14 points 10 months ago

I really liked this cut, and would like them to come back. I used safety pins to keep the ends off the ground.

[-] nightofmichelinstars@sopuli.xyz 28 points 10 months ago

So you hemmed them to a more typical pant leg length?

[-] hOrni@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

No, just the back, so I didn't step on them.

[-] Olap@lemmy.world 30 points 10 months ago

When the ends of our jeans looked all freyed and hemmed

[-] MudMan@fedia.io 6 points 10 months ago

Dusty, too. Washed jeans went from white to blue, unwashed from blue to brown.

[-] tamal3@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Remember when you used to get your shoe stuck in the ribbon of fabric that would detach in a loop from the bottom of a leg. For some reason it was always only one leg.

[-] Stillwater@sh.itjust.works 29 points 10 months ago

This isn't what jeans look like anymore? Help me out

[-] EtherWhack@lemmy.world 8 points 10 months ago

I just saw a high schooler wearing black ones when grabbing something to eat at the store.

What pants?

You wear pants?

[-] lightnsfw@reddthat.com 21 points 10 months ago

I wore a pair of jeans like that yesterday...

[-] frog_brawler@lemmy.world 20 points 10 months ago

I see nothing unique about this pair of jeans.

[-] Venus_Ziegenfalle@feddit.org 15 points 10 months ago

They've started wearing them again

[-] RacerX@lemm.ee 13 points 10 months ago

The last time I bought jeans they still looked like this. Granted it was 2003, but still.

[-] over_clox@lemmy.world 12 points 10 months ago

Who said I don't?

My leg length is right though..

[-] BoxOfFeet@lemmy.world 12 points 10 months ago

Looks a lot like my wardrobe, even the Chucks. Can't quite find a cut like that anymore, but I love that wash. And, honestly, I like it when they get tattered by the heel.

[-] finalarbiter@lemmy.dbzer0.com 3 points 10 months ago

Try looking for a boot cut. It's similar, kind of baggy and the cuff is oversized to fit over boots (hence the name)

[-] StrawberryPigtails@lemmy.sdf.org 11 points 10 months ago

I got tired of the torn up cuffs and jean cuffs are uncomfortable to walk on when you don't have shoes on.

[-] Zier@fedia.io 11 points 10 months ago

What up skaterboi?

[-] FuckFascism@lemmy.world 10 points 10 months ago

Maybe because they were stepping on their own fucking pants.

[-] Ilovethebomb@lemm.ee 9 points 10 months ago

I really wish I could find comfortable jeans like that.

[-] hOrni@lemmy.world 2 points 10 months ago

Well these days we have the stretchy ones. Originally I disliked them, as not real jeans, butI started to like them as soon as I got fat.

[-] bricklove@midwest.social 9 points 10 months ago

We got tired of hiding our powerful haunches

[-] vga@sopuli.xyz 7 points 10 months ago* (last edited 10 months ago)

"Why does fashion" basically.

Could everyone stop pretending like you decide objectively what you wear.

[-] Sylvartas@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 10 months ago

Because they're not practical and they fell out of style

[-] daggermoon@lemmy.world 6 points 10 months ago

How is this different from regular ass jeans?

[-] hOrni@lemmy.world 5 points 10 months ago

These were the most regular in the 2010s. They are a bin narrower in the knees, and looser at the bottom. People liked to wear them longer, so that they wrinkled at the bottom.

It's uncomfy

[-] scathliath@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 10 months ago

You could not do sick kicks easily in them boys, or climb trees, I destroyed many a pair with my thick ass thighs.

[-] dirtycrow@programming.dev 2 points 10 months ago

When I peed my pants in them in the 2nd grade. My parents got some for me in high school, but they were so tight I could not wear them.

[-] roastedgarlicbread@lemm.ee 2 points 10 months ago

Cause they're ugly looking.

[-] ne0n@lemmy.world 12 points 10 months ago

Better than emo femboy skinny jean crap
