Gotta love the pearl-clutching libs do when another country does anything other than passively roll over for the US

[-] miz@hexbear.net 61 points 1 week ago

brutally publicly tortured

Sometimes when I feel down I remember that time in 2012 where China executed a bunch of CIA assets by shooting them in the head

Also if I remember the details right their names got leaked to Chinese intelligence because one of the CIA jackals did a whoopsie daisy and leaked info to Iran somehow

[-] miz@hexbear.net 29 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

it was way dumber than that, short version is the CIA web coder had "secret" "hidden" fields on run-of-the-mill-looking websites labeled very subtle things like "login" and "password" if you looked at the source code. so once you identified the template you could roll up the whole network by identifying each traitor's custom website portal

Easier than a mid-00s web puzzle game

[-] Meh@hexbear.net 48 points 1 week ago

I would simply not spy for the US. Seems easy

[-] DengistDonnieDarko@hexbear.net 33 points 1 week ago

won't someone think of our big beautiful spies liberty-weeping

[-] JoeByeThen@hexbear.net 31 points 1 week ago

Lol this asshat believes in Freedom™ and Democracy™! farquaad-point

[-] VILenin@hexbear.net 27 points 1 week ago

It is well known that China is the only country where it’s illegal to send national secrets to a foreign intelligence agency, their tyranny knows no bounds

thinks about how they were treated after being caught

"Yeah, haha take that CIA"

[-] randomquery@hexbear.net 22 points 1 week ago

I like to think that when a westerner talks about human rights, he means the rights of CIA agents to destabilize a country unobstructed.

[-] barrbaric@hexbear.net 18 points 1 week ago

Will nobody think of the fascist compradors?!

[-] SkingradGuard@hexbear.net 16 points 1 week ago

Honestly, that's tagline material

[-] FourteenEyes@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago

Is this dipshit under the impression that when I am glad the CIA is getting fucked I would not have the exact same feelings about their agents?

[-] Damarcusart@hexbear.net 15 points 1 week ago

"WHERE'S THEIR CIVIL LIBERTIES?! THOSE FASCISTS NEED CIVIL LIBERTIES!"

Paywall. Archive link?

Edit: I'll do it myself: https://archive.is/nzDtc

The site was part of a network of CIA sites that were first discovered by Iranian authorities more than ten years ago before leading to a wave of deaths of CIA sources in China in the early 2010s.

Important info. This isn't anything super recent or relevant. It was part of a huge network of front sites for communicating with informants.

Ciro Santilli, the researcher, said he was drawn to investigating the network of CIA sites for various reasons: his interest in Chinese politics (he said his mother-in-law is part of the Falun Gong religious movement)

Love to be an impartial reporter and call a dangerous, coercive, violent, racist, controlling cult which itself receives CIA backing (relevant) a "religious movement".

[-] ZeroHora@lemmy.ml 4 points 6 days ago

Search for the researcher name, he has a repo about chinese dictatorship.

The real life Syril that didn't get shot yet.

[-] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 12 points 1 week ago

Falun Gong are the people who pass classical European dance as Chinese dancing?

[-] buh@hexbear.net 40 points 1 week ago

master yoda's favorite games

no KotOR

that's how you know it's a psyop

[-] Sinisterium@hexbear.net 29 points 1 week ago

Only true communist revolutionaries would put KOTOR 2 and its Hegelian analysis of the force as their favorite game.

[-] VibeCoder@hexbear.net 40 points 1 week ago

Is the CIA just a make work project for overly educated true believers?

[-] EstraDoll@hexbear.net 29 points 1 week ago

"hmmmmm elect communist leaders you must not"

I do not see why you would use fansites like this when you could hide this shit far better inside spaces that are more closed. Videogames for example.

A network of themed minecraft servers could hide anything.

[-] DengistDonnieDarko@hexbear.net 44 points 1 week ago

Get blown up by a creeper while trying to access the archives on the office minecraft server. I hear Jim from Narcotics Trafficking across the hall say "noob down". The whole office is laughing, I'll never live this down.

[-] GaveUp@hexbear.net 20 points 1 week ago

Videogames for example

I'd imagine their chat channels aren't end to end encrypted, I don't think cia would want their messaging to be stored and controlled by a gaming company

[-] Awoo@hexbear.net 22 points 1 week ago

Nothing is in anyone else's hands when you run the private server.

[-] keepcarrot@hexbear.net 8 points 1 week ago

I'd guess that a privately hosted modded minecraft server could have e2e encryption or something. Literally deliver messages via in game items or something, idk very cyber

[-] driving_crooner@lemmy.eco.br 9 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

But you have to install minecraft or wharever to access the communication network. A webpage can be access by any explorer and with a little of trickery bypass corporate and government filters.

[-] GalaxyBrain@hexbear.net 17 points 1 week ago

If you really wanna be secret inly use analogue technology, be old timey. No one is out there looking for the guy doing dead drops and burning notes after reading. Meat space no trace

[-] bad_news@lemmy.billiam.net 26 points 1 week ago

They used sequential fucking IP blocks! 🤦‍♂️ Your tax dollars at work, being less sophisticated than a good third world scam site operation 15 years ago...

[-] CrawlMarks@hexbear.net 25 points 1 week ago

Critical support for tricking the cia to let you just do whatever you want.

The blonde haired, blue-eyed padawan on the site seems a little on the nose

Some Cold War warrior at Langley was probably very ticked off by Luca's interviews about the Empire being America and the Rebels being Vietcong

[-] BanSwitch2Buyers@hexbear.net 17 points 1 week ago

Notice the last post in the previous general megathread before it was locked and a new one started.

Coincidence? I think not.

[-] BanSwitch2Buyers@hexbear.net 16 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

That website I screenshot is the website where fascist-Canadian Joshua Boyle met his American mormon wife while he also made edits to fascist Wikipedia pages and also wookipedia pages and then tried to join the taliban in Afghanistan or something and then sexually abused his wife while they were captured.

[-] BanSwitch2Buyers@hexbear.net 10 points 1 week ago

Oh yeah, he he was married previously to Omar Khadr's sister who is a guy that the Canadian military tried to pin charges on for blowing up a military medic or some shit with no proof and the Khadrs' dad is some diplomat or something. Very spooked up situation.
