I have only been gone from reddit for just over 6 months. Today I made the mistake of browsing it, there is so much misinformation, noise, and hate. After scrolling for about 10 minutes I realized that I hadn't seen anything of substance that I hadn't already seen on Lemmy

I really don't feel like I'm missing anything by leaving reddit

It’s so bad now that the default client is king and now that a lot of the good super users bailed.

The content and the algo that sorts it is terrible.

I don't know if it's just me but last time I browsed Reddit or Facebook they just gave me a bunch of unhinged right-wing phobic bullshit.

I dunno if it's because my privacy skews their data on me or if they're just trying to feed me misinformation but either way fuck these companies.

There just as much rage bait here though.

I can just block them at least. I'm just tired of being angry :(

Step 1 was cutting off all news, for me. Social media news included. Then I weaned myself back on once I got a handle on the cycle of rage. Now my anger is directed toward important events like when that fucking piece of garbage nearly hit me at the four way stop sign. The person in the middle of the intersection almost certainly has the right of way, you pustulent troupe of gremlins in a human suit.

No there absolutely is not 'just as much'.

Literally at a core fundamental there isn't in terms of what users see, since lemmy's algorithm isn't engagement driven.

Block and block often. It works here.

don't worry, we have plenty here on lemmy

even if you don't want it you'll still get it

There's plenty to go around right here. Shit, there's communities dedicated exclusively to it.
