Daft Punk. Sadly never have and never will. :(

[-] djvinniev77@lemmy.ca 2 points 1 week ago

Saw them for the Alive 2007 tour. Big gigantic pyramid and the DJ booth was at the top. They were grooving to their remixes of their songs, 2 robots alternating moves with the beats. It was awesome!

[-] toomanypancakes@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

I feel your pain. They were among the greats, like holy shit.

Streetlight Manifesto- 3 times

[-] severalkittens@ani.social 4 points 1 week ago

Porter Robinson!! I've seen him uhhh at least 5 times live now? I love how every album of his is totally different, and his performances are always such a good vibe.

[-] missingno@fedia.io 4 points 1 week ago

I got to see him live for the first time last year, absolutely incredible show.

[-] wingsfortheirsmiles@feddit.uk 2 points 1 week ago

Only managed to see him with Madeon on the Shelter tour, not usually my thing but that track was so good and yeah the vibes were immaculate!

Where are the phish fans?

"...723 times"

[-] defuse959@lemmy.dbzer0.com 4 points 1 week ago

Big time tool fan in the 90's, 125 shows total throughout the years. Havent really been interested in their music and only seen them 2 or 3 times in the past decade.

But, the past 12 or so years I've been super in to Cattle Decapitation. Seen them 15 times so far including a trip last year from the west coast of America to Ireland to catch them with some friends over there right around st pats.

Phenomenal live band and genuinely good humans.

If you are incredibly attractive and have fantastic taste in music, I am at least half way there! ๐Ÿ˜

Maybe we shared the teleporter? I mean, isn't this basically just a terrasite?

[-] Kolanaki@pawb.social 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

I didn't discover Nirvana until after Cobain had died so... None. ๐Ÿ˜”

Same with Chris Cornell and every band he was in.

[-] MajorMajormajormajor@lemmy.ca 5 points 1 week ago

You should probably stop discovering artists, for their sake!

I've tried to stop myself after I got into Linkin Park. ๐Ÿ˜”

Man I thought I just liked grunge, but I think what I really like is depressing songs from people who have unalived themselves.

Frank Zappa, Broadway the Hard Way Tour in the Ahoy Rotterdam 1988.

Seen him once.

[-] dumbass@quokk.au 3 points 1 week ago

Say Anything, that band basically kept me alive through my teens and 20s, I got to see them live and Max Bemis the lead singer grabbed my hand and got me to sing a part of the song, best fucking moment of my life.

That was the moment I knew I wasn't 100% straight, he could have had me that night.

[-] scytale@lemmy.zip 3 points 1 week ago

Hard to pick just one so I'll list a few:

  • Thank You Scientist - 2x
  • Haken - 3x
  • Porcupine Tree - 1x
  • King Crimson - BEAT lineup 2x, 3 drummer lineup 1x
  • Tesseract - 1x
  • Meshuggah - 1x

Tossup between Streetlight Manifesto and Propagandhi.

Streetlight I've probably seen 9 or 10 times. Every single one is one of the best shows I've ever been to. Their live shows are the perfect mix of energy and technicality. They are just as precise as their studio albums, but adding the intensity of live music and a venue completely packed with people who are super into it.

Propagandhi I've only seen once, but it was fucking intense. Every song was balls-to-the-wall power. I got kicked in the teeth so fucking hard I thought I lost one, but didn't care. I was supposed to see them again last year, but the frontman got Covid the night before the show. I was supposed to see them in a couple weeks, but they canceled their American tour on account of all the Nazi shit happening here. Now I'm seriously thinking about paying an exorbitant amount of money to go see them in Canada.

[-] Otherbarry@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyz 3 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Yeah with Propagandhi it's always a toss-up whether they'll make it into the U.S., they were set to play Fest this year too until they canceled. Kind of wonder if they'll even bother trying to tour the U.S. for the next 4 years at least, ugh.

PS - Streetlight is playing Asbury Park later this month if you want to add another show to your count :P (you probably already know about that one)

[-] Tujio@lemmy.world 1 points 1 week ago

Unfortunately I'm on the other side of the country. I've got tickets to see them in my city, but it's at a shit venue.

[-] Otherbarry@lemmy.frozeninferno.xyz 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

World/Inferno Friendship Society by far, must have seen them 10-15 times in the NYC/NJ area. Averaged 1-2 times a year up until the lead singer passed away 4 years ago (RIP CLOTH). Their live show was kind of a intense mix of dancing, moshing, singing along and just kind of letting loose. The fans sort of created an entire community around the band and we'd recognize each other from all the other shows we've been to together. Their annual halloween show (Hallowmas) was always the highlight, the band would go all out with live show spectacles both on and off the stage.

I still go to plenty of other live shows, at the moment have leaned into folk punk bands. Apes Of State and Escape From the Zoo are some of my current favorites maybe seen them 4-5 times now.

[-] blindbunny@lemmy.ml 2 points 1 week ago

Cursive I've seen them 5 times. Two of them one day after the other. Broken chords have never sounded so beautiful.

[-] RagnarokOnline@programming.dev 2 points 1 week ago

Incubus! Seen them 3 times and each show was phenomenal.

Most of them are 90s and 2000s hip hop, rock, jazz, pop, and electronic artists (I can't pick a favorite).

I've been to three concerts in my entire life. Two of them because I was bartendering at the venue. The other one my parents took me to when I was 12 (Blue Man Group in Vegas, early 2000s).

I'd love to one day be able to attend a concert on my own dime... Too busy going to work and paying bills.

[-] whatwhatwhatwhat@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Death Cab for Cutie is my favorite by far. Iโ€™ve seen them live 4 times.

Iโ€™ve also seen their frontman perform solo twice, and once more with his other project the Postal Service.

[-] Deadlytosty@feddit.nl 2 points 1 week ago

Cory Wong is my all time favorite, seen him 3 times so far, all amazing shows. Will see him again next month at North Sea Jazz.

Snarky puppy is a good contender, seen themb3 times as well.

[-] kubok@fedia.io 2 points 1 week ago

I have been a Cure fan for over 30 years now. I have seen them live twice, both times in their 'Bloodflowers' tour. Normally, when they perform near us, they perform on big festivals. I hate festivals.

[-] sanguinepar@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

R.E.M. - saw them live 3 times (Edinburgh 1994, Stirling 1999 and Glasgow 2005). Always great!

[-] davidgro@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Weird Al.
Only like 4-5 times so far, but I have tickets for this summer's tour stop near me

[-] Unpigged@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 1 week ago

Napalm Death, about ten times.

[-] 9point6@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago* (last edited 1 week ago)

Most seen is probably Bloc Party at about 10 times (though most of those were over a decade ago) or more recently Everything Everything who I've seen about the same number of times now.

Chemical Brothers is probably my favourite live show, seen them live 6 times now. NIN also put on a great show, going to my 3rd and 4th times next week

Oh I've seen Sigur Ros 4 times and that's always a great show too

[-] klemptor@startrek.website 2 points 1 week ago

Billy Idol! I'm not sure how many times I've seen him, at least 8 but probably more like 10-11. Two of those times I got meet-and-greet tickets so I've got two pics of me and my husband with Billy and Steve Stevens :)

[-] AceFuzzLord@lemm.ee 2 points 1 week ago

I think my all time favorite as of now is still Taiwanese singer Jam Hsiao and I have seen him live 0 times because he hasn't come tour America. And there's no way he'd be coming over now because it doesn't matter if he's famous or not, I guarantee he'd probably be deported to jail in South America just for being Asian.

[-] vantablack@lemmy.blahaj.zone 2 points 1 week ago

Food House

epic queer hyperpop duo featuring the offspring of tony hawk

saw em live in seattle on the 8th and it was genuinely the bestest time i've ever had at a live music event EVER

[-] aesthelete@lemmy.world 2 points 1 week ago

Radiohead. Three times: the Hail to the Thief tour, the In Rainbows tour, and lastly during the A Moon Shaped Pool tour.

[-] PlexSheep@infosec.pub 1 points 1 week ago

Ado, first time seeing her live next week.

[-] MyDarkestTimeline01@ani.social 1 points 1 week ago

Breaking Benjamin, twice.

[-] ElPsyKongroo@sh.itjust.works 1 points 1 week ago

Minami. She's a Japanese artist that I've seen live, well... 0 times. Turns out if you mainly only listen to Japanese music and you live in Europe, concerts don't work out too well for you.

[-] noxypaws@pawb.social 1 points 1 week ago

probably Tool, and zero times regrettably. I really hope I get a chance to see them at least once.
