Perhaps it was foolish to hope societies would evolve that much in a few gens, it seems like the concurrent injustices are only perceptible/cared about a certain percentage of people (you can find historical records of clear oppositions with logical objections to all big historical atrocities before they happened) & the rest just follow the mass/current propaganda.
