In words with left- and right-handed letters on the keyboard, like "word", sometimes I will instead type "owrd" because the command from my brain seemingly is processed faster by my right hand than my left. It rarely, if ever, happens the other way around. In recent years, I think this accounts for as many as half of my typos. Interested to see if this happens to other people and how I could try correcting this.

Practice the basics again, simple as that.

keybr.com is a good website to practice your basic typing skills. monkeytype.com can also be helpful for less-basic practice.

Have you considered tiny weights for your right hand?

Side effects may include unexpected thumb wrestling prowess.

I've heard something about juggling exercising brain hemisphere connection. Maybe try spending a bit of time regularly juggling, or doing something else that requires bilateral coordination. I mean, besides typing

I'm curious, is this on a phone or a regular physical keyboard?

[-] monovergent@lemmy.ml 7 points 1 month ago

On a physical keyboard, never happens on a phone because I type so slow on touchscreens

You could take a look at alternative keyboards like

Futo Keyboard (swipe typing)

8Vim

or

ThumbKey

You may want to re-learn how to touch type! I’ve noticed myself doing the same thing and I’m seriously thinking of digging up some version of “Mavis Beacon Teaches Typing”

Glyphica on Steam.

Typing tower defense. Doesn't really "teach", but you learn. Or die, lol.

this happens a lot when i have to use the shift for control key.

im a linux user, so the control key hits me particularly hard.

Practice. Type "word " over and over until your brain rewires.

This was me with the word ‘cusotmer’. Just had to force myself to relearn it.

Hey I have the same thing but with my left hand :3.. I assume it's something to do with handedness then, so.. practice being more ambidextrous with your non-dominant hand? I dunno
