The Thing (1982)

It’s my favorite movie of all time and I watch it every October.

[-] Drusas@fedia.io 3 points 2 weeks ago

I watched this for the umpteenth time just last night! Always a good one.

[-] Doubleohdonut@lemmy.ca 12 points 2 weeks ago

The Big Lebowski. Simultaneously ridiculous and incredibly sophisticated. People who think its "just" a stoner comedy may have some more viewings to go 🙂

[-] SatansMaggotyCumFart@lemmy.world 9 points 2 weeks ago

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

[-] pdxfed@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

The Fifth Element

[-] lemmyng@piefed.ca 10 points 2 weeks ago

Hackers. Yes, it's corny - cheesy, even - but it had a great cast with awesome chemistry, and it did a great job at capturing the zeitgeist of hacker/punk culture. Plus so many memorable quotes...

[-] SynAcker@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 2 weeks ago

You are forgetting the soundtrack! Its still amazing and slaps!

Idiocracy

There’s something about that close-to-home dystopian outlook that calms me. Now go away, I’m batin’!

Alien

Aliens

Too bad they didn't make any more of them.

[-] BlameTheAntifa@lemmy.world 3 points 2 weeks ago

Romulus is better than it has any right to be. The Alien 3 “Assembly Cut” is also decent. Not good, but not awful.

[-] chunes@lemmy.world 6 points 2 weeks ago

For me it's The Matrix.

I never like to retread old ground, but this one's an exception. It's hard to overstate how much it blew our minds 26 years ago. I might have a soft spot for it too because I was raised sheltered and it was the first rated R movie I saw.

Big Trouble In Little China.

Marathon Man [Dustin Hoffman, Lawrence Olivier] seems to have been designed for multiple viewings. A character seen briefly in one scene turns up later in the movie. A quick telephone call becomes incredibly important but you have to be paying close attention to every minute.
